Did I get a freak motor?

Ok I bought a 6-bolt and swapped it into a base model 1.8L laser. I broke in the engine since it had been sitting for a little while and finally took it to the track this past saturday.

I ended up with 14.43 @ 96.22MPH

Everyone was amazed that was with me. Has anyone else had this good of a time on stock boost?

You have a 1.8 and it weighs nothing. Did you remove that balance shafts? That probably helped.

I didnt remove the balance shafts and I have the 450cc injectors so I dont know. Its weird I guess. I shocked myself first time down the track.

If you have the 450's, then you have a 14b, which may be just a stock 4G63. I would say that's pretty good for a swap into a 1.8NT, but please remember that that model doesn't weigh nearly as much as the turbo's. Also, from your SIG, it says that you have a MBC and catback exuast. Those times aren't uncommon for a 1G with those mods. It sounds like you're going to have a lot of fun with this setup. Where did the motor come from? Also, which tranny did you go with? GS-T 5-Speed? I would be floored if you did that with a 1.8 tranny.

Congrats on the swap and time. If you could post any findings/notes you have from that swap, I'm sure other members would appreciate it.

Matt.

Yes I have those mods, but I havent put in my walbro yet so I have the boost still sitting at stock and the cat-back is from my 1.8L exhaust so it probably hurts more than helps.

As for the swap, all I can say is make sure you have an entire parts car

If you would like I'll write a whole article in the 1.8 forum and they can make it a sticky

from my understanding the 1.8 tranny is chrysler manafactured and will not bolt up to the 4g63.

No I didnt use the 1.8 tranny. It absolutely will not fit. I used a Talon Tsi 5-speed. All my parts came from a 91 talon tsi.
