What is the most boost I should run on my stock engine. I am currently replacing the head gasket as I managed to blow it while hitting 25psi one too many times with my 20g. With a 4 layer gasket and some ARP studs should I be safe up to 30psi. Im content with 20 on the street though as it tends to spin the wheels or disengage the clutch at that level anyhow.

I wasnt showing any knock on the 91 octane that I was running from my datalogger. Even with the safc set to -45% pretty much across the board. I didnt really know the exact EGT's since the probe kept getting blown out of the manifold. If I only had the funds to drop some cams in while shes apart,oh well.

I know a couple of you guys have 20g's out there so those who have experience or "educated guesses" the help would be much appreciated.

No one has any opinions on this. I find that hard to believe. Someone told me no more than 30 so I guess thats what I will go by unless someone else has a reason for it to be different. Also what types of mods would allow you to run like 40psi or so. I know that it would be stupid for me since the turbo isnt efficient at that level, but I still would like to know what kinds of things I can do to add "reliability" if there is such a thing to the 4g63.

Man i think you have alot of reading to do. I dont think anyone here would be running 25 if not even 30psi on pump gas. No wonder you killed the head gasket so quickly...if your running like this i dont think you will have a running car soon....

You can run 25 psi on a stock engine with out damaging anything, as long as this 25psi boost isn't happening all the time. A 4 layer gasket and headstuds can give you 30 psi out of it, but that doesn't make your car ready to handle 30 psi especially if this is the only way you plan to drive. If you are breaking wheels at 20 psi, you seriously should consider some drivetrain work(i.e. mounts and a lsd) so you won't shoot spider gears and break a tranny. With you being fwd, the turbo you have doesn't matter. I spun the wheels with my T25, big 16G, 06 20G, and even my laggy 56trim. For us this is going to happen no matter what. I'd stay in the 18-24 range for the least overall stress of the car. Some kind of 2 stage boost controller can give you a low-high boost setting, then life will be good.

Good luck

good suggestion on the two stage boost conrtroller. very smart idea to avoid excess will spin and launch with

I have to call bs there ... 25 psi on 91 octane????? I'm looking to run a max of like 24 psi on 93 octane.

Oh man i'm not a expert tuner or anything but man you dont know what the hell are you doing. Come on 25+ psi on 91 octane, man crackhead would know better. If you kept blowing your headgasket....I mean didn't that give you an idea that maybe something is wrong there.
