I want to put a 1g intake manifold on my 2g head and I was wondering if it does what year cause I know it does with the throttle body it has to be '91 and up.

Thanks for the help

the intake manifold can be from any year 90-94, the vacuum ports are all the same if I recall properly.. I just swapped mine..

I actually couldnt find a decent 1g turbo intake manifold, mine is off of a 92 non turbo 4G63, I had to add a vacuum port to it but it still works fine..

Out of curiousity, what are you guys doing about the port size difference? You will need to take out a lot of material on the head to get a nice smooth flow. (no step down)

Sorry to bring back a really old old thread but i am in the process of looking for a 1g intake manifold to clean and install on my 2g.
Is there really such thing as a gasket that port matches to a 2g head ? From what i know you have to port the head to match the bigger runners on the 1g intake manifold and then use a 1g IM gasket ?
If i use a 1g throttle body will i be able to reuse my 2g sensors on it ?
And last but not least, are both 1g turbo and non turbo intake manifolds the same, aside from the bov vacuum nipple ? Thanks for any help.

I think he meant that he got a 1g gasket and ported the head to match the gasket.

Thanks for clarifying that up. But i need input on the 1g intake mani before i buy one.

The 2g head has real small ports, but better for lowend and people have put good power down with them.
Of course the 1g head's ports are almost twice as big and more suited for 9500rpm than the 2g head. Now the throttlebody's on 1g's I think were all the same save for the 90' which has different ports. Pretty hard to find one these days. Numbers escape me atm, 53mm vs 60mm sounds like its on the ball for 2g/1g tbodys.
IMO, I wouldn't bother porting your 2g head unless your going to get a bunch of other work done to it at the same time. Consider the cost of the head rebuild/ss valves/cams/hg/arp's ect.

Yes true that i just had i thought since i found me a cheap 1g intake mani. And yeah the 2g is 52mm*. You think just installing a 1g throttle body and port matching it to the 2g TB spacer would be good for response and up top flow ? Will it bolt right up ? I know it should, just want to make double sure.

For a 2G head, I'd use an EVO 3 intake manifold. Ports match the 2G head, TB opening matches a 1G TB. Runners are much shorter than 1G or 2G runners, many people have seen great gains using them with small-medium turbos.
