O.k. this is going to sound like a newbie question but I gotta know, WHAT THE HELL IS A 4G64 ANYWAY?. maybe I've been in a cave for too long but I honestly never heard of it until a couple of weeks ago in a forum or something and it's been kickin my @ss as to what the difference is between the 4g63 and 4g64. Could somebody shed some light on the subject for my ignorant @ss?

WTF are you talking about dude... if you don't have a clue... don't awnser the question... the 4g64 is the stock 2.4L engine in the eclipse GS spyder... the GS-T spyder still runs the 4g63

I thought that the spyders only came with the mopar 420a engines maybe I'm wrong. I also thought that all turbo dsm's i.e. laser talons and eclipses came with 2.0 liter engines. .4l more sounds like a 420a to me which I thought was a neon/mopar n/t engine. am I wrong.

here is the way it is:

ALL GS-T (including the SpYder), GS-X, and TSI come from the factory with the 2.0L 4G63(T)

ALL 2G GS Hardtop, RS, ESI, and Base models come with the 2.0L 420a

ALL GS SpYders have the 2.4L 4G64

the 1G cars either had an N/T 4G63 a Turbo 4G63 or a 1.8L (I can't remember the engine code on the 1.8)

but you were incorrect... there was NEVER a Talon from the factory with the 4G64... ONLY the GS SpYder... and a few galants...

and the expo, a few dodge mini vans, there are a bunch of them that came with them. just onme more thing. only a few glants came with the 4g63, and the 95 glant had a 4g64 with a 4g63 dohc head on it, those are the timing gears you have to use if you do the hybrid but they are pretty rare from what I have heard. most galants did come with the 4g64 the early ones came with the 4g64b witch is a 6 bolt, that is also what the mighty max came with. the 4g64 is a 7 bolt.
