i drive a '95 gst... this all happened a while ago.. the question just came up.. here it goes. the stock motor got crankwalked at about 101k... so we decided to get an engine swap.. so after we did the engine swap, the guy who did it, put the stock turbo and intake manifold from the crankwalked motor on this new one... and gave me aside the turbo and intake that came off of the motor that was swaped in... now the question is.. he said that motor came off of a '97 gst. but the turbo that he gave me was a TDO4H. from my understanding thats a 13b correct? and if it is..thats from 1gen autos. does it mean i actually have a 6 bolt motor? :dsm: thanks for the help

Having the turbo does not automatically mean you have a 6 bolt. I dont know why ofcourse a 97GST would have a 13b on it. In the VFAQ there is a section that explains how to tell if you have a 6 or 7 bolt engine.

you know what larryd.. i was thinkin the same thing... would my mechanic just happen to know how to put this in or did he figure it out and got all the parts he needed.. this is really weird.. cuz i checked at VFAQ and seems like i do have a 6 bolt motor... but n-ewayz, about the crank angle sensor... is it that thing (sensor) that sits on the left hand side of the valve cover? im not really sure where the CAS sits... thanks 4 the help

the cam angle sensor sits on the end of the intake cam on the passenger side of the engine bay.

the crank angle sensor is a triangular connector that goes down the driver side of the engine by the crank. You would notice wires being cut into and spliced if this is what he did. I dont know of another way to do the swap?

ok.. the cam angle sensor (that sits on the intake cam/ passgenger side of the cam) isn't there.. and the crank angle sensor i can't tell.. i feel so dumb.. ha.. oh well, by any chance do you have any pics of what is suppost to look like? i mean.. this is really weird.. seems like i do have a 6 bolt motor for what ive seen from VFAQ, but then again.. would the guy who did the swap know it was a 6 bolt and knew all the part he needed.. you know what im sayin. shiiet ..hehe well thanks for the help BTW

yeah im goin to ask him soon as i get a chance.. its just that me and him aren't best of friends right now.. hehe and yeah i totally understand its not an easy procedure to just do a swap in.. i was readin up on the swap and all that.. seems like you have to do alot and alot of parts is needed.. well i'll figure out soon or later
