Glen Burnie / Balt,
Just curious if it would be worth my time. I have thought about doing it but i don't want to waste my time if it's not worth it. Thanks

If you take your intake off and look inside it, you'll see how much the dump tube blocks the intake. If you're planning on replacing the intake any time soon, then it may not be worth it, but if you think you'll keep it for a while, I think it's a good mod. It's easy, cheap, and a learning experience.

Did mine tonight. K&N (3000gt) and dumptube removal. It Does take up about 25% or more of your air way. I just pulled the mas off and the tube between the BOV and intake and then cracked the Glue and pulled it out. Cut about 1 inch below the glue left on the tube and JB welded it back on. Took me about 5 mins to pull, cut, and JB weld and well worth the time.

Replace the tube with a PVC pipe. That way you can someday return it back to stock to sell the car... Since the BOV gets considerably louder after you hack the dump tube.

I tried to cut the dump tube when i was putting in my dejon 2 1/4 intake pipe, but It was so hard to remove the dump tube that I gave up. I couldn't cut throught the glue. I worked on it for like 10 minutes and it still wouldn't budge. I tried to saw it off with it inside but still didn't give so I gave up. But than I have a Greddy Type S and its still loud with the dump tube there.

what glue?
I heated up a knife and sliced through mine(the tube)

Flat head screwdriver to get the glue off the top. Then pry around the ring till the rubber breaks away. It is real simple. I did all of my work without even removing the accordian from the car. Just removed the MAS and replaced with the K&N fipk. Placed a CLEAN rag in the accordian and then took the tube out.

Good idea for the PVC dump tube if you are going to sell your car in the future. I read that on the vfaq page, but since my car is payed 4 I just hacked away at the tube (out of the car).

Man it sounds so much better than the stock air box. I was truely shocked at the change in sound.

I just took a soldering iron and melted it off around the base...Took about 5 minutes. Just don't burn through the intake pipe.

I personally believe that using a screwdriver to pry the rubber snorkel off the tube is the best way. Just cut off the excess glue first, then pry away a little at the time all the way around till it comes off.
