Alright, I know this might get asked often in diff. ways and forms and if this isnt fit for this forum then feel free to move it. I realized today that once I buy a fmic and injectors that I will be pretty much done with bolt ons, it will be time to get into the engine more. What I want to know is what I should do next.I was thinking maybe going with HKS cams and some sort of cam gears at first then rebuilding the head, getting it ported and SS Valves and Titanium retainers and valvesprings. Maybe get some new pistons and rods and rings.

I currently have a FPBig28 but next winter plan on going big, like L2r or L3r big. I want to be able to run some good boost on whichever I get. I want to primarily know what I will have to do to my head/block in order for the engine to be able to hold stable boost amounts around 20-22 psi. Give me some help on what I should do to the head, full rebuild with all the above mentioned parts and then get it ported. Block with some JE pistons and crower rods. Give me ideas of what I will have to do and what parts I should invest in and what other services that I should get performed on my head/block if I do get them rebuilt. I am looking for good boost levels and low 12's to high 11's. Let me know thanks.

 ...

Your stock setup will hold that just fine as long as its sound. No engine building or anythign needed. A little search will go a long way:thumb:

Well I'm talking about on the L2R or whatever I get when that time comes, so ignore I said that and let me know what kind of setups and stuff you think would be good and then tell me how much boost it woudl be good for.

He just told you. A good shape, good operating 7-bolt stock block can and will hold well into the mid 20's of boost, depending on the tuning. if you are a dumbass and denonate all over the place then it won't last for sh!t. I know of a half dozen 7-bolt stock block engines running mid to high 11's.

The HKS cams are a good idea. Make sure everything is smooth for the intake and exhaust (i.e. a little porting goes a long way).

P.S. Since this is a very generic questioned thread, moved.

if your looking for other stuff to do just to be safe go with some apr studs and thick aluminum gaskets. id also recomend a valve job and new piston rings to make sure it seals. imo when you decied to go into the head or block or something do as much as you can/want at that time. its just easyer.

I wouln't mess with the bottom end until you swap in a 6 bolt. Just throw in some HKS cams and call it good. Also, get 660's instead of the 550's. The centerforce is going to puke on you too. Other than that you should be good for high 11's with some driving and tuning.
