I was thinking about making a heat sheild for my car and I know styrofoam does a really good job at sheilding hot/cold. Would it be a good idea to make an intake sheild out of some? Where would be the best place to buy some good quality styrofoam?

styrofoam is good for coffee, but I don't think it's ideal for your engine bay. It'll end up being picked apart and I know if it were me, I'd end up breaking it somehow. Stick with metal or even cardboard (yes I did it and it actually worked). I made an air intake shield for my integra out of fiberglass. Looks good, it's strong, and it works. I was thinking of doing the same for the talon. If it works out, I'll make you one....if it works.

LOL...that would be a big mess & catch the car on fire. try some fireproof /heatproof insulation

I made a heat shield out of foam board and works damn nice.

When you touch the engine side, the board is hot, and when you touch the air filter side, it is nice and cool.

Works well
