well i just rebuilt my engine and it has 50 miles on it. still have my little stock T25. last nite while breaking the motor in, even the slightest amount of gas around 3000rpm caused the turbo to spool in 1st gear. i ported the head, ex manifold, turbo housing and O2 housing while it was out. everything was fine with the turbo last nite.

tonite, i give it a little gas in 1st and the turbo gauge barely moves, so i give it some more, and instead of spooling, i get this hellacious squeal coming from the front left. my CEL light came on while idling in the driveway after this happened, and it did it the rest of the nite. it spools perfectly fine in second gear and third... but i've yet to go WOT on the new engine. the tranny is fine as well. anyone ever have this problem or have any idea what it is?

well, there's no more squeal today, but no turbo at all

I took it down to autozone first thing when they opened to have a CEL scan... they said they don't do it sunday, and the wanted to sell me a scanner for $150... i said no, got in my car, started it.... CEL GOES OFF

whatever

why isn't my turbo working? they're all new gaskets. would a vaccum leak be big enough to keep it from spooling in first, and now in second?

Any help appreciated

Adam

I think your low on boost fluid.

ok seriously though it really sounds like you have an exhaust leak or something like that. If it wont spool in first but will in second and third when the gear is longer it sounds like a small leak somewhere that's causing your turbo not to spool.

You said there are no leaks, did you look all around when you ported to make sure there is no exhaust leaking out anywhere? Also have you checked your intercooler piping for leaks?

well i checked the vaccum and it's at 15. the only gasket that we did not replace was the throttle body gasket, so i'm replacing that. in first, the turbo doesn't budge up to 4000rpm, in second it tries to spool but only about 1/2 way up the gauge
