Looking for a BOV to replace stock item on a 1G with 16G turbo running
17 lbs. Want something that works great and has nice sound but not is really loud...

I don't have too much knowledge with the HKSSSQ aside from the fact that it's super loud. I don't think they differ too much besides the sound plus you can recirculate the s back into the intake.

I know about HKS BOVs used by supra and turbo Z people, and they are very loud. Like 18 wheeler releasing air brakes loud. Great if you're trying to scare little kids, but if you're looking to build a lurker or a sleeper, a HKS is definately not advised.OMG

However the Type-S isn't a direct bolt-up to the 1G flange, is it?

I think my BOV is sticking; I get this funky surge the first time I let off the throttle after boosting, as though extra air's being forced past the throttle plate for a moment. Replacing it with another 1G BOV would be cheaper, but...

if its under low boost then its normal....the type s is known for its fluttering under low boost.
