I upgraded my GSX to an RRE UICP and a Greddy type-S BOV. As I was installing the new parts, i noticed that the inside of the stock UICP has lots of oil in it. I was puzzled by this and started thinking of reasons how this had happened. The only problem in my car was a leaky valve cover gasket and that was fixed not too long ago.

Is it possible that it could had gone to the turbo and that in turn blew it to the UICP?

do you have a catchcan in the valve cover breather? If not, I'd look on the vfaq on how to set one up. I'd definetly consider about cleaning out the IC, since the oil made it as far as the uicp. Also check the turbo and see if the cartridge has any shaft play or you see any oil leaking from the compressor housing.

This is actually pretty normal for these cars. The oil is from blowby that gets into the valve cover and comes out the breather hose, which in stock form is rerouted into the intake. The FIRST thing I would do is pull that hose off the intake and plug the intake nipple with a vacuum cap. You can either just let the hose dangle or put a filter on the end of it. I chose to just let it hang there-- it's not hurting anything. In fact what I did was got a longer hose to put onto the valve cover so that it hangs all the way to the bottom of the engine so oil doesn't get all over everything. I did the same thing with the PCV line and capped off the intake manifold nipple.

The next thing you need to do is take your I/C off and clean it out with some gas. Just pour some in there and shake it really good and drain it out. It'll come out black for the first few sloshings. Let it dry and reinstall. This will help your I/C work better.
