if i went to maxi muffler and told them i wanted full 3inch exhaust and to install a muffler, would it be any good. Would the piping be curved or would it be like straight and zigzag. Does it matter if its zigzag. I dont want to spend 500 dollars on some pipe and a muffler.

Ok, I fell more stupider after reading that.

Anyways, as long as it is a full 3" you will be ok. A muffler shop will use press-bent piping though, not mandrel. You will get a little less flow out of the press bent, but if it is 3" unless you are planning on 400+ HP I wouldn't worry about the flow restriction.

If you get 3" press-bent, you will end up with around the same performance as a 2.5" mandrel-bent system. It would also help if you put what kind of car you have in your profile (other than the fact it's a DSM). Finally, when you say you want a full 3" exhaust, you should really specify what "full" is. If you are going to get a turbo-back, you are going to have to get a flex section and a new cat (unless you don't have to pass emissions). Most muffler shops will rape you on those parts so I suggest finding them elsewhere and bringing them with you to the shop.

you "fell more stupider" dude learn to spell, and use grammer. Stop hackin on him he's just trying to learn !

we aren't here to make fun of people, we are here to help and learn right? GEEZ!

Yeah, I remember when I first got my DSM. I had no idea what the hell I was doing. Fortunately I've gotten a ton of help off here and saved myself a butt load of money in do-it-yourself stuff and smart shopping. My only regret is the exhaust I bought from Donald Reed in Akron OH. I paid 250 for a 2.5" mandrel-bent, but I got what I paid for.

What the hell. I read some posts and it is nothing but people talking #### to other people. I say something like this for te first time and you guys jump down my throat. In case you didn't notice, I also replied to his message with an answer. Also, I meant nothing serious by my last post, if you couldn't imply by the spelling and grammer, I was kidding.

I hear ya. I always like to help somebody out in the best way that I can. Then again I always want to learn something new myself. I didn't mean anything bad by my first post, that's why I included an answer also. I was just joking around a little bit with the grammer. No harm done though. :D

Well back on TOPIC! I had a muffler shop pressbend me a cat back with a Borla muffler on the end. It's deep and throaty but highly resonating. But i'd still prefer it over some fart can system any day! I bought the parts (except the tubing), cat $50, flanges $10, muffler $120, and took it all to the shop and had them put it on for me for $120. Best damn cat-back money can buy!
