Motor rebuild. Nedd to know if im doing right

hi guys, I have a six bolt that im doing a complete rebuild and upgrades. and im making it a 2.3 stroker, with a evo big 16g. I got a fpr, 550cc injectors, and 250walbro fuel pump. Now could I go for 272 cams for the intake and exhaust or 264 intake and 272 exhaust. Also can i keep my stock head with the new cams? and do I have to get adjustable cam gears or could I keep the stock ones? If I'm missing anything here for my upgrade to work please let me know.. Im sorry if my questions seems a little dumb but I'm reading and doing a ltot research on it but some informatios i just can't find. Thanks

Yes you can keep the stock head.

I would get at least 272s. Strokers are a little different and there are certain recommended cams from what I understand, but I haven't looked into it much.

Cam gears aren't necessary, but might be nice to have the ability to move the powerband around.

I think a stroker and a 16g are gonna be a PITA off the line with a GST, but thats my opinion.

What are you using for tuning? SAFC, DSMchip, ECMLink? What CR pistons? Do you plan on running meth inj? How much boost do you want to run? What's your goal for the car?

Im getting the SAFC NEO, an the stroker kit I'm getting from Slowboy Racing, Inc. :: Mitsubishi :: DSM :: Engine :: Stroker Kits :: 6 Bolt :: Stage 1 6-Bolt Stroker Kit I was thinking on running meth inj and run about 18 pounds of boost... And what do u mean with the stroker and 16g off the line?

You won't need meth when running 18psi.

The kit doesn't say what CR the pistons are. Have you decided on a CR?

And what do u mean with the stroker and 16g off the line?

I mean the torque of a stroker and the quick spool of a 16g are gonna blow the tires off in 1st, 2nd and probably 3rd. I would spin to 70 mph on my FWD Laser with a 16g and I just had a 2.0.

I called slowboy and they told me it depends on the brand of pistons that I want, but the CR on pistons are 8.3.1 8.5.1 9.1.1, so now I just have to figure it out which one I'm going to go with. Any advice?

You will probably be fine with 9:1 on a 2g timing map. I ran 19-20* timing on pump with 9:1 CR, 11.3 AFR & 28 psi on my 18g. With timing control, I would not build a motor under 9:1 CR with the experience I have had with mine over the last year. Plus now I mix in 30% E-85 and I am getting 24* timing.

IMO, with all that money into the car already, I would ditch the SAFC & get DSMLink. There are other options that others rave about like DSMap & Jackal, but I no nothing about them and I love Link.

550s will not work on the stroker you need a least 650s or higher.
