removal of valve springs

what tool to use when compressing the valve spring tried a couple of different ones but not enough clearance around the springs, any help would be great

You can get adapters from snap on and matco ect.. If you just want to remove the valves you can use a deep socket and a hammer to remove them just watch out for the valve keepers.

^^^ that's for damn sure. all the springs came off on the intake side and i thought "man this is easy". on the first exhaust side spring? BOING! "oh sh*t where'd it go"

build the tool with sears part $40 total if you have to pay someone to weld it.

or you can order a real tool from napa ETC and spend in excess of $300


i built the vfaq tool with sears parts, works like a charm.

tip on using the tool once you have a good bit of tension on the spring, tap the valve side of the tool with a mallet, this will unseat the retainers and prevent flying/missing parts
