What's going on Guys and Gals. I have a question. I am in the process of building an engine ith a turbo set up for my Galant(2001). I have picked up a 1st gen Manifold and I am debating which turbo to purchase. I have someone offering me the stock 14B but I have been reading and I want to know the difference between the 14B and the 16G I believe the 14B will spool faster and won't kill my tranny as fast But I just wanted you guys opinion/suggestions. Thanks

I suggest you use a Stock 2G Turbo, the T25. There are a few simple reasons for this:

1. You'll be running realtively low boost on the 4G64 in your 8th Gen Galant; I suggest no more than 10psi, IF you have plenty of fuel mods (pump, regulator, AFC) The T25 will work well at this low boost level.

2. The compressor outlet on the 14b/16g will be angled directly towards the head, which will make fabricating a lower intercooler pipe VERY difficult. The Comp. Outlet on the T25 will point towards the driver side, at the bottom, and will allow you to use a stock 2G SMIC, in the drivers fender well, relatively easily.

3. T25's are inexpensive and easily had if you know someone who is modding a 2G GST/X.

Some other issues to cover: You'll need to bolt the turbo to the manifold 180 degrees opposite of it orientation in a DSM, but this isn't really a problem. You can use a stock O2 housing, but you'll have clearance issues with some of the AC lines. So you'll either need to fabricate an O2 housing, which is very tight, or modify/move/delete those AC lines. You'll see what I'm talking about when you hang the turbo.

Otherwise good luck, and if you have any questions please post them.

BTW: Lazarus, I work with/for Andrew Kung (AK1) at Horsepower House, from the Galant Center Forum. We installed the T3/T4 on Drews car, which is boosting good now.
