There is pics of mine, It "should" suck air in from the stock intake tube, the hood/headlight seam, and a little bit from below.

Does this really make a difference, because I didnt really notice one?

I know some people make them to enclose the whole filter and suck air from the stock intake tube only...that has to be pointless. Thats basically a stock airbox:laugh:

Discuss..

i dont think its pointless because its basically sucking in cold air instead of warm air from the engine compartment.

I think it is worth it. It should keep out the majority of the hot air. But i would not buy one. Just make one. Its not very hard at all.:thumb:

Just a guess, but you probably won't notice a difference. Air is still gonna leak around that guard anyway, and now you're making the engine suck air through a restricted area too.

Yes a little more restricted. But its pretty much sealed off from the engine. The only place the engine are can get it is one spot on the bottom about a 1" square by the coolant tank.

It will not work unless you duct into the box a cold air pipe from in front of the car. It is hard to do that unless you have a FMIC. Take a look at these threads. I made the same cold air box, and I didn't notice a difference until I removed metal just below the filter. This opens up the box to the cold air below and lets it breathe. The best way is if you duct up to the box from the stock intercooler outside air vent like below.

I was thinking about opening up the area under the filter, but decided against it because I dotn wanna have to worry about sucking in water

yea it takes a lot to pull in water.if you i had duct in my bumper and i went through some pretty mean puddles and the duct remained dry the entire time.youd have to be goin through a puddle like he said.

i have a 5" diameter flex tube ducting air from the smic opening 90 degrees up straight through sheetmetal to the bottom of my k&n

id say it does its freakin job. whenever i take off the k&n it is freakin *black* on the bottom side. not to mention whenever i feel it after turning the car off, the metal on the end is ice cold.

exhaust wrap helped as well. next thing up is hood vents. i want my engine bay to be nice and cool.
