O.K., I was thinking about this one today. Something tells me that mitsubishi didn't create the 16g turbo as an upgrade for our cars. If I am right what did they come on? If I am wrong please correct me and fill me in on exactly how they came to be. Are they just a hybrid with a different designation? Just wondering, trying to fill my head with knowledge. While we're on this subject, does the same go for the 20g as well?

mistubishi made the 16g originally for the evolutions and turbo eclipses in japan i believe. so it is a mitsubishi manufactured turbo, as far as the 18g and 20g turbos, i believe it is the same (being made for lancer evo's but not eclipses). of course, i am just speculating so can anyone back me up???

The 18g and 20g were installed on the Mitsu Fuso(deisel truck).

Yep, and there weren't any eclipses in japan...jus tthe 16g ws used on the lancer's evo1/2 then the Big16g for the evo3+. That is what I read somewhere

...where do 16g's come from...

Well you see, when a 14B and a 20G really love eachother, they....

Regards,

There actually was eclipses in Japan, 97 GST Spyder's, but they also came with the T2small. The have yellow corners on the tailights, fender turn signals (right in front of doors), And motorized retractable mirrors for the tight driving spaces in Japan. I have a friend that spent years over in Japan for the military and he has pics of a Friends Spyder over there. They were only offered in Red and Black.

Don't forget Mitsu makes turbo's for other applications all around the world as well.

I'm 99% sure the Isuzu NPR uses a 16G turbo as well. There are a lot of heavy equipment applications that use turbos too.

Brad is teh man!

Caterpiller or CAT actually owns a large chunk of mitsubishi and uses many of their turbos on their diesel trucks and tractors.

16G = g-vr4 japanese part.... and of course the 'big 16g' is a high model JDM galant part... they just decided to give us americans crappier turbos since we have weaker fuel...

how thoughtful of them... Thanks for the info guys, it's nice to know that my thoughts were on the money. While were on the subject of crossbreeding did any cars come from the factory with 550cc injectors that will work in our cars? Just another thought...
