wastegate positioning

does anyone have their wastegate welded onto the turbine housing? this is supposedly the best possible place that it can be but i dont see anyone on this forum at least doin it.

everyone i have seen running an external wastegate has it mounted on the exhaust manifold, i don't think it would have the best effect mounted to the turbine housing or else alot of people would be doing it. Try it and see if you have a spare housing to use.

i guess you never read maximum boost. i was thinking no one does it cause it prolly costs more and a lot of people wouldn't think of it cause so many manifolds come ready for a wastegate to bolt on.

it may cost more but i can't really say it might just be a little cheaper and not caught on yet or maximum boost may have been trying it out. what results did they get with it?

the book doesnt show results. its a book to design and install a turbocharged system in pretty much any car. it shows the best ways for each aspect of the system from turbo selection to intercoolers to engine internals and gaskets. great book for everyone.

by the way they are believed to be the best techniques because its what the indy cars and drag cars do

those are high rpm cars though, and may not be based on the same design as your car?

nope believe me the whole book has to do with normal everyday cars even carbuerated (sp?) and diesel
check it out youll only get smarter
