I recently received my RNR turboback w/ hi flow cat... and i was wondering if there was any way i could install this without having to weld the slip fittings? I dont have any shops that i trust in my area, and it would be much easier if i could install the rest and then drive to have the muffler welded on at a local muffie shop... Is there any clamps or anything that would work?

Also, if anybody has a shop they recommend in the north-of-LA area, i'd greatly appriciate hearing about it.

Thanks

Yeah you can get the clamps at most parts stores or exhaust shops.

That's what they look like

I welded the slip fitting. Catalytic wha?

thanks guys... the reason i ask is because i dont have access to a welder myself, nor the skills to use one. Clamps would make it so much easier

now i just have to find a shop that sells them in the thousand oaks area. :)

Lando... i used to live in the chapel hill area ... i moved out here to CA 10 years ago (almost 11 actually). Know River Forest Rd by any chance? I got the cat because i've already had too many encounters with the police to run a pipe in this strict ass state. :(

RNR should have sent you those u-bolt clamps with your exhaust. At least I got them with mine. I originally used the u-bolt clamps and torqued them as best I could with hand tools. Twice my exhaust came apart where the downpipe meets the cat (under hard acceleration with wheel hop). I haven't heard anybody else complaining though so I guess it's just me. I switched to an exhaust band clamp and it hasn't come apart with those yet. They also don't mess up the pipe as much as the u-bolt clamps. www.extrememotorsports.com has them for $10 a piece (I think they're in the downpipe section). They are from NAPA if you have that shop local. Checker and Autozone DO NOT have them.

Welding and clamps aren't needed, but you can do either one of them just to be safe. I have had slip fits on all our cars for years without problems. It makes for an easier install and removal. Clamps can be found at any auto parts store. This is also the same way Buschur sells his turbo backs without any problems.
