crower 413`s ???

Is any one using or used the crower 413`s in there Ist gen.
Would like some first hand feed back on them if anyone has them.
Its time for cams and a guy here locally has a set of them.

crower makes a 412, 413, 414 and full race 415`s
 
i had the stage 2 cams.

the idle wasnt to bad as in it wouldnt stall but it lobed like a mother..

the bottom end power was non existant as in I was afraid to pull out in front of traffic.

the top end power was great but took forever to get there, I revved the car out to 8500 and felt power all the way to redline though.

I dont suggest these cams, If you have the $$ just get HKS cams.
 
Thats just it i am getting them for around 200 less than HK$ cams. I think i will try them and if i dont like them with my set up i can always sell them for what i am paying for them.

Oh i am. i have posts about it on a couple boards. Are you sure you had the 413`s and not the 414`s. Some of what i heard was the 414`s lope bad and the 413`s lope alittle and the 412`s sound stock? Idealy i would like a HK$ 264i and 272e cams. These are just cheap. hmmmm. what to do.

thats what i had.. I went back to stock because the car ran so shitty with them. Now Im going to be runing HKS 264/272 once my engine swap is done.
 
Thanks i appreciate the input of your experience with them. I assume you were using a stock head also. Oh and what turbo did you have when they were in. The one thing i keep hearing is crower is inconsistant with thier cams.

If you want a true price comparison, add $200-$400 for adjustable cam gears and another 2-3 of dyno tuning at $60-$80/hour, all in an effort to correct poor cam sprocket indexing. And you will end with 264 HK$ cams performance.

Still think that it is cheaper?

I used to wonder why Crower/Web cams always had worse idle than HKS cams of roughly the same profile. Well several people have measure both of those types of cams and found a lot irregularity from lobe to lobe and with cam sprocket indexing. You can fix indexing problem with adjustable gears, but lobe to lobe irregularity will always be there…

Leon said it best. Its kind of sad when you think about it. Crower cant even copy HKS right. Common sense would dictate that a set of cams slightly larger than the 272s should work. But when you get off of paper and into reality you end up never being able to beat HKS.

Even Shepherd uses 272s. When I called around to a few shops when shopping for cams they all said the same thing. Even in their race cars the HKS made the most power.
 
Old post. Perhaps they have improved upon quality as I am installing a set of stage 4's, 64415's this coming week. Mark
