Need help from someone local (im just outside buffalo NY) Ive been building my dsm up for about 6 monthes since buying it (check my blog), I can't keep the thing running for the life of me and its missing like crazy. Timing is good, the TB is clean with new gasket's, all vacuum lines are brand new and zip tie'd. I start the engine and it rev's up to about 1200, misses a few times then dies. If I give it a little gas to try to keep it running it also dies. what the heck am I doing wrong here? I have all the stage 1 mods (w/ a big 16G), brand new eprom ecu, and I dont understand what the heck is going on? please someone help Im dieing to drive this thing again!

Do yo have DSMlink with the new EPROM ECU? If so, anyway you could post a log while the car runs? Also, are you throwing any codes/CEL? How is compression? Do you have good spark?

Do not have Dsmlink yet, was waiting till I got the car running. Compression was good when I bought the car (havent driven it since picking it up), spark firing all four. I think I found the problem last night, the harness to my injector's arent plugged in, musta forgot after installing my new fuel rail and setup. Its triangular and orange. This plugs in somewhere by the coil pack correct? Its the one running directly off the injector pigtails. Also how the heck did this thing even turn over with-out voltage to the injectors?!? LOL

thanks alot for all the help hope to here back

update... I triple checked my firing order and its good to go, That connector coming out of the fuel injector harness is actually green when flipped over. Its running along side 2 other connectors one green triangle, and one rectangle. I looked in my haynes and If im checking it right, its supposed to go to my a/c which Is taken out. Now when I start the car it holds to about 1200 and if i touch the gas pedal at all it bogs, then tries to rev back up to 1200 (warming up temp). I checked my afpr and its dead on. It takes a few starts but does fire up. I do not have my intake on yet, and have re-ran my vacuum lines according to taboo speed diagram (which I also checked and is perfect. What am I doing wrong here? please help me out guys im dieing to get this car running again

I do not have my intake on yet

Are you running a MAFT or another sort of blow-through set-up? If not, I assume you mean the intake pipe that goes from the filter to the MAS to the intake pipe to the turbo correct? If so and you are using the stock 2gmas, you have to have it plugged in with the intake on the turbo and with any unused vacuum ports on the intake plugged. Basically, make sure your MAS plugged in.

I checked my afpr and its dead on.

Does this mean your fuel pressure is correct ie: 2g base FP = 43.5psi with vacuum hose unattached?

No I am not running a blow-through setup, just the stock mas. I got the motor running and now it will at least rev but is miss'ing badly. I hooked up the stock intake pipe and plugged the 2 or 3 vacuum ports that are on it. When I take the vacuum line off of the AFPR the gauge does not change. its at 43ish and when reved to about 3k it only bumps to 45, is that right? My biggest concern now is that the motor is miss'ing, Im going to run a compression test in the next day or 2 and also check timing. also im only at 10 psi of vacuum at idle which flutters as it consistently misses. Any idea's? thanks for all your help

Glad to help, that is what we are here for.

Did you plug in the MAS? Also, check the timing before doing a compression test because if your timing is off by too much, you might bend some valves. You said you removed the vacuum lines via taboo right? If so, did you run the intake manifold to FPR hose correctly? I ask this because the AFPR should read about 43.5 psi with the hose detached and once it's attached, it should read somewhere around 38psi.

Align the cam gears with thee marks/notches facing each other. I had low vacuum when my timing was off by one tooth. Also, your vacuum issue could be many things like an unplugged vacuum hose, leaks, etc. Do a boost leak test at the throttle body elbow.

Let me know how it goes so this thing can run!!

Cool, I will check cam gear's today to verify that they are or arent on timing. Also, yes I triple checked that the afpr vac line was correct. I ran it from my intake manifold to the afpr and tee'd in between the 2 for my boost/vac gauge. Also, im waiting on a new intake, my mas is connected to the connector but not to the turbo (open turbo) right now. Would this give me these results?

Are you saying the MAS isn't seeing any actual air flow? Meaning its not attached to the intake and filter processing and calculating how much air the car is bringing in? If this is true, you have to hook it up in line with the filter because the MAS is how the ECU calculates airflow into the engine so that it can mix the fuel properly.

Hook the MAS back correctly and then let me know.

the mas did it! thanks I figured i would have been ok to just start it and have it plugged in and let it idle... guess I was wrong. It striaghtened out my vac. leak problem and also my AFPR problem of not dropping w/ vac line off. Now Im trying to figure out were to mount my coolant overflow container because of the new FMIC install. If im thinking right here, It has to be below the level of the thermostat/ radiator right? any suggestions? Im thinking of putting it where my battery used to be because I relocated the battery to the trunk. Also checked all vitals (i.e. Compression test and timing) and theyre good to go

thanks again your a life saver!

Glad to hear you got it!! With all the computer controls and sensors and crap, everything has to work in-sync or not at all. Good luck. You should post some pics of your build. Rep it up. See ya man -Jeremy
