Is it possible to have a super charger and a turbo on at the same time?

Has anyone ever done it? is it safe? what would you need? and how crazy would the power be? Ohh one more question, dose the gst and the gsx do the lil tsssssssssssssss sound when they shift gears? if not how big of a turbo do you need to do that, cuz that is the most beautifull thing in the world!!!!!!

There is pretty well no point to a turbo and supercharger because a turbo alone will make all the power you cant.

The Tssss. noise you refer to is the blow off valve not the turbo, that doesn't have anything to do with the turbo at all.

It can, it has been, it could still be...done. The first known example of this was an old HKS kit for the old AW11 supercharged MR2 (4AGZE for all you Toyota nuts). The kits either used a clutch on the pulley of the supercharger similar to the unit that comes on airconditioning units when the turbo was fully spooled that shut down the supercharger . The idea is to have a positive displacement or roots style supercharger used to spool up a larger turbo. The kit was awfully rare and expensive when it was produced and is virtually non-existent today. Many have tried to duplicate the kit and few have been successful. Most people ditch the idea quickly when they can't get it to run right and end up going all turbo anyway. It's totally unnecessary, but it would definiately get cool points in my book.

For the sake of the technical aspects of this question...... Many deisel engines in trucks, buses, etc use both a supercharger and turbocharger. Typically the turbocharger feeds a positive displacement blower. The end result is very high boost pressures. These deisel engines are built very heavy duty and dont use headgaskets. In order to make compound forced induction worth while on a gas motor such as ours you would have to run alot of boost. This would result in alot of power (IF) you could keep the motor in one piece.

For the record the tsss sound that im in love with is not fromt the fast and the furious, i was at lake george (we were in a red eclipse all hooked up cosmetically with a stock engine) the guy only had a front bumper on so we made fun of him a bit, and he made the lil tsssss sound and it shut me up , from then on i love the tsss sound LOL. Its just me. How do i go about doing that? what would i need? were can i get it?

rite.. i might be getting a nice 94 gsx :) i found a nice dragon z body kit, and after that its straight engine :) if i get it that is. but seriously how do i get the blow off valve to do that?

yeah, there are supercharged and turbocharged cars out there. Have we ever recieved them in this country? maybe. I'm not really sure.

The first one that I am aware of, that was available in japan was called the Nissan March SUPERTURBO (for supercharged and turbocharged):

The bov releases the pressure that is on the intake which is why you here the tssss sound. The only thing you have to do to make it do that is build up boost and let your foot off the gas. Oh and you were joking about putting a body kit thing on a 1g,werent you.:barf:

On the flipside, I do see my resale value going up. :)

i like it:(. Maybe i just have bad taste

Yes you do. And if you are more serious about "Da Lookz" of the car, that"Oh so kewl" fshhht sound and what bodykit to bolt on instead of the car's performance- you are a ricer. I recommend you read the following URL:

That should get you started. Good luck :)
