Well, I've been around, reading the forums for a while, I have a new celica GT, just a little commuter car, for looks, not going for speed. My goal is to get an AWD 90-92 talon TSI, or eclipse GSX. I'm seaking a total beater that has everything it needs there, but isn't running because of an old as hell engine. I have a friend who has a shop with the needed tools, and extensive knowhow on domestics, engine stands, etc... What i would like to do is pull the motor that is in there, put the 2.4 L stroker kit on it, bore it out a little bit to clean the cylinder walls, possibly reinforce the cylinder walls, new pistons, rods, valves, springs, the works inside the engine, and throw a big a** turbo onto it, that is able to shoot NOS if need be. My goal is a 10 second car on street tires(completely stripped if need be). My question is, are there any particullarly good places to look for cheap project cars, I am looking at autotrader.com, and cars.com right now, but not finding much that suits my needs. Also, how much will parts run on a complete engine rebuild to a 2.4+bore stroker. Just engine, not turbo or anything like that. And then finally, what do you think the total cost of parts would be to get a whole new engine, with MUCH larger turbo, 3" downpipes, etc, engine management, as well as a reinforced transmission(which I would probably need to pay someone to make) I'm trying to get a good idea on what this might cost me.

Well, depending on how you do everything....will vary the costs by tons.
Just for example>> the Crower 2.37L stroker kit is ~$3900 (http://crower.com/cat/import/mitsu/stroker.shtml)_ that is a full billet crank pistons and rods...
Plus machine work> bottom end built for $4400 or so>>>now for the top end(cams, springs, retainers, new lifters, cam gears, valves, seals, port/machine work>>~~guesstimate of $1500-2000.

Total of motor work invested $6400 or so PLUS INSTALL/Assembly LABOR.


Big turbo capable of 10's(mutt~$1400-or if you have to go(other) external wastegate/etc..~$2000).
3" turbo back exhaust~~$500-750 depending on how you do it.
fuel system mods~~$750 or so.
suspension mods~~$1000 or so.
transmission to hold the power>>>PRICELESS!
(if a TRE full race tranny would work your looking at like $2k).

Total estimate on mods for a stroked built 10sec car>>$12k--13k(plus all labor).
