anyone have noticable hp gains with a header?

I believe you are talking about an exhaust manifold, and in that case go for a ported 2g manifold. If will give you more power but only around 5-10hp. But its better than nothing.

if your on a budget ported 2g mani, if you have the extra cash I'd get an equal length manifold

If you are after every loving HP you can get out of it with the cost of everything else go with the header (You will end up baking every thing in sight of it) For a few less HP and a lot more liveable a ported 2G or a stock EVOIII manafold with all the stock heat procetors in place (top&bottom) every thing will look stock but still have good performance.(and keep everything from baking under the hood ROFL)

Exhaust manifold not header.
There is a Group Buy on here for Forced Performance's new exhaust manifold. You should look into it if you plan on upgrading, costs $175 plus shipping which is very cheap!

Just be aware that the price of a "header" style tubular manifold is primarily the work, not the materials. The more welds, the better design, the better construction, the higher the price. Tubular manifolds often need replacing and have a lower life span, while providing slight gains in HP and torque, assuming the turbo and exhaust systems match the increased performance.

$100 is a fairly low price, although be forewarned that the commonly crack along the welds, especially while supporting a heavy turbo. If you do not notice any additional bracing provided under the ribs, I would not suggest that purchase. If you only intend to run with it for a short while, go for it.

If you're going e-Bay then scratch the tubies from there. Go with the FP cast manifold. It's revised to create much more amounts of flow over the stock units and on top of that you have the improved reliability of the cast metal versus the potentially crappy welds you will find from e-Bay items. Plus, for the same price you'll be getting a product widely recognized in the DSM community as "parts wishlist" item for almost half the price. Can't go any better.
