ok this is no newbie question but i figured you guys would know.i just bought an awd talon turbo block im building up.i wanna run the 95 8:5:1 comp pistons but i dont know the specs.i got the big rods with the block i just need to get them machined.what do i have to do to these rods to mate them to the pistons.thanx guys and please dont flame me im still learning.:thumb:

what type of power are these rods good for after the machining.im aiming for like 400 even to the wheels.
 
Mine have been over 450whp and I have personally seen them handle over 500 to the wheels.

nice,you guys rule.:thumb: im gonna build this bottom end within the month hopefully.just waitin for money.im gonna try for 425 at the wheels.if i get it right.im gonna pic up the block tomorrow.the guy said that some of the valves were bent in the head.so i got the block cheep.im gonna snap pics of the block.:dsm:
 
ok i checked on the block today.they said (since i know themand my fruiend works there) there not separating the block and the head so i get both.now i get everything left on the motor.i get the head,turbo manifold,intake manifold,valve cover,cams cam gears and so forth. so im gonna have some extra parts.im gonna get it tommorrow and see what ill get.the i start to strip what i dont need.im gonna check in the head and see if nething is salvageable.ill post tommorrow and let everyone know whats for sale.i gotta see what i get
 
i just wanted to clear a few thing up. im not gettin the whole motor.im not getting the trans,turbo,os sensor housing,any ic plumbing,and no intake plumbing.this is y i got such a good deal.theve had this motor for a while.its still in damn good shape for being outta a junkyard car.im gonna get some pics of the parts i get with it.ill post them as soon as i get the chance.
 
How much did you guys pay to get your rods machined? I took some to a local machine shop and they quoted me $400!!!!!!:mad: Also they said something about "reconditioning" the rod bearing jounals when you put the ARP rod bolts in them?! Whats the deal, do you really need to do that??

I have heard of that. Its recommended ...400 bucks is nuts. I know of a place that will do it for 110 bucks in oklahoma if I can find the website. But shouldnt cost $400 bucks. Thats more expensive then Eagle H Beams.

They should be the same. Its a 4g63. I can look at Mitchel On Demand at school. If its there.
 
so its basically the stock bore.interesting.i got the parts motor i got apart.well i should say my project motor.its pretty grimy.whoever had the car bent ever intake valve and fried the exhaust valves.the block is good but the pistons have dents from where the valves hit them.the rods and block and crank are good(thank god)and the head should be fixable.i got a few parts im gonna put up for grabs in a couple days when i get some pics.i got cams w/gears,intake manifold,throttle body elbow,and thats all thats salvageable.the cams got a little bit of surface rust specs on the lobes,should come right off, i got most of it off with a paper towel.the gears are good just need cleaning.the intake manifold has what looks like carbon inside it.its not goowy or anything like that,an extrude hone job should take it all out without any probs.im gonna snap some pics and get some pics of the head too.i find the bent valves to be humorous.there not bent at the tops by the springs.just the very bottoms by the bells are bent.the head is gonna get worked so it should be able to be fixed.if anybody wants any of this stuff before i put it in the classfieds pm me.all the parts listed are all ive got.the turbo manifold is cracked,but if you want a cracked one because you can do something with it let me know.ill post again whe i get pics of everything.:thumb:
