I have been setting my car up to run E85. I replaced my fuel lines with -6an SS and an earls filter, and put in an aeromotive AFPR and wally 255hp. I also had to get a -6an bulkhead fitting welded to the fuel pump assembly.
So its possible I have leaks, are there and kinds of tests I should perform on the setup before I start it up? Or do I just start and check for leaks and the right pressure?
 
There is a way to turn the pump on without starting the motor. You can use dsmlink, if you have, or there is a wire somewhere under the hood that you can ground and it turns the pump on. Look for it in the shop manual.
 
Go with the link route if you have DSMlink. I just did that with mine and found my injectors didn't seat well; had to re-do it...bummer. Also, I think you might be able to prime the fuel system by turning the key to "acc" or "on" without actually starting the car. I maybe wrong about that but I think that once you turn the key, the fuel pump is activated, priming the system allowing you to check for leaks. Hope this helps!! -Jeremy
 
Just a suggestion, no offense, you should add another in line pump like the Bosch 044 if your wanting to make some serious power on e85..
 
e85 does require LOTS of fuel. Do not run fuel pumps in a series, meaning two on the same line. Instead, run them parallel, both feeding from the tank with a Y fitting joining the lines. Parallel flows A LOT more then in a series.

I'm planning on 300awhp to start on E85, and will probably go with something around 350-380 awhp later. Will a single 255hp really not be enough for this? I don't have dsmlink yet, but I'll have it in the next few weeks along with 1000cc injectors. I've had a hard time finding fuel pump requirements for E85, all I can find is how big of injectors are needed.

I've gotten this suggestion more than once, but its kind of an expensive pump. How much will an inline bosch 044 help the in-tank 255hp?

Your whp goals were smaller than I expected. You can probably get away with one intank 255 hp pump. Just run the base fuel pressure a little lower and get the largest fuel injector you can control.
 
Well member twicks69 has a 255 in-tank, and a 255 in line. He made 740whp. So I'd say it would be able to support your goals, and it wouldn't be as expensive as a 044. Me personally Im going with a twin 044 in-tank set-up like this...

A member of the dsmlink boards used to run a 255 in tank and 044 in line and was running out of fuel around 500whp on a t67. He switched up the lines and ran parrallel and now has plenty of fuel to go, on the same pumps.

I think I'll be okay for now then. I'm new to modifying cars so I'm going for modest power at first, with room to grow. If I need an in line pump later, I'll just cut a section of my fuel line out and put it in I guess.

I can't find the wire to start the fuel pump in my manuals though...

Well yeah you need more e85 cause it burns roughly 33% slower ( read this in a thread on e85). But he was using VP Race fuel so they flow pretty nicely for the amount needed to burn...not like he was using 93 :D

I'm thinking now I need another 255hp, but I cant find out how you run pumps in parallel? What does the mean exactly? Running another in-line pump in series doesn't gain that much
 
If you have a logger or can borrow one from someone you can turn your fuel pump, injectors, on without starting the car.
