I just bought X-TREME 2% window tint, and the packaging told me i would need a spray bottle, baby shampoo, tape, razor blade, and a squeegee, but it gave me no directions whatsoever.

Can someone who's put on window tint tell me how to do it?
thx

OK, I run a detail shop. We don't do alot of it, but we do put on alot of large decals(no one has good taste, but if they wanna spend the money, so be it)

clean the window really well, you can't clean it after the tint is on :)

I use a spray bottle of window cleaner to apply the window tint, but you can use the baby shampoo if you want. really mild mixture in a spray bottle that can make a fine spray. Don't use too much, just enought to wet the window.

cut the tint to roughly the right size, but bigger.

apply it to the moistened window, and get it in position. Use the squeegy to squeeze out all the bubbles. Start in the middle and work your way out to the edges. Have a soft rag around to sop up the soapy water. Once it is on, using a sharp razor blade, carefully cut off the excess. this is tricky, and you can tell when first timers do it. be patient, leave yourself some time, and don't do it when there is pressure, such as friends watching, on lunch break etc.

Don't do it in the direct sunlight.

Don't roll the window down for a day or so.

Of course your tint may be different than what I have used, so remember that. If it seems wrong, don't do it. If you have any extra, do a test piece or 2.

Make sure the cops are ok with it. they can make ya take it off if they are jerks.

see if your manufacturer has a website??

go to a local glass shop and ask for help?

good luck

Man that packaging is all messed up! You will also need a plunger, 3 glazed donuts, a left shoe size 8 1/2, a prostitute, a hammer, a waterproof disposible camera, and 5 cans of Nads hair remover. Hope I could help ya out. Late ;)

I think you also need one of those "Tornado" air vortex generators, some NuLon, and be a member of a working piramid scheme too :D

nah,its all good, you'll be fine.

rice boy... :p

My $0.02, let a pro do it. I work at a tint / high performance shop, and I can verify we have one of the hardest cars on the market, (94 and up). Call around and find out who can do it in one piece, and what kind of warranty they have.

If you are talking about doing the back hatch window then I would agree with TSIAWDTalon and tell you to let a pro do it.

If you are talking about the door windows and the small triangle windows I say try it yourself before you pay for it to be done. I tinted all of my side windows myself and it came out great, of course it wasnt' the first time I tinted. Tinting is a B*TCH and it takes alot of practice and patients so as said before don't be in a rush when you try to do it.

Good Luck!
