Any thoughts on this intercooler. For the price it looks to be about the best deal I can find. Anyone have this intercooler, (the supper street model). Any feedback??:dsm:

Yeah, i'd also like some reviews..I know GSXTCY from this board has recently installed his VP FMIC...any feedback??

I have one and worked fine but I had issues with the piping. You really need to ask about the piping for your set up. It did not work with my turbo. I had a big28.

what were the problems that you had?? my guess would be the lower pipe not matching up beacuse of the flow design of the intercooler, the bend on the turbo going to opposite direction. if that's it then a 20g or a garret turbo should match up just fine....

did you get the piping fixed?? how was the performance??:dsm:

Yes the elbow on the turbo was a problem but that one I anticipated. The guys a VP told me to just get the elbow welded on facing the drivers side. Well to make a long story short it did not work. Yes I fixed it making my own piping. The kit is designed for a 20g style turbo. I think you still have to get an elbow though. One of the pipes in the kit was to long also but I just cut 3 in. off and it was fine. I'm not sure if I mounted it properly but I also had to cut the holes wider on the plate it's supposed to be mounted on. Maybe my kit was just a bad one or maybe I'm a moron and didn't install it correctly but the performance was great while I had it.

we installed a AGP 28 that we had rewelded the elbow the opposite direction to work with the VP kit.. overall install wasnt to to bad.. the pipes and are all very nice but the route they take is VERY congested IMO :)

Did ya'll have to make any custom pipes or did what they gave ya'll work. Where did the intercooler mount to the car? I agree the piping route is congested but it works I guess.

we didnt have to change any of the piping, but Nick has this black box on the driver side of his car in the way.. dave said it was the EVAP.. I dunno Ive never seen it on another DSM..

The kit seems very well put together and it's a damn FMIC, it's not going on easy like your altezzas. VP can't cater to every single turbo so they do the best they can. At the most you'll have to buy a 90 silicon bend. And the funky passenger side bend is so you don't have to cut anything around the radiator, I think it's slick.
As for performance, I helped 95GSXRACER install one, so I'm not really sure, he's not on this board too often anymore, but maybe he'll drop by and give a review.

Well you sure seem to know alot about altezzas. Were they easy to install on your car. Oh and how about the blinking valve caps are those hard to put on to.

I would like to see some pics of that install if it's possible Larry. Mainly just the piping in the front from the turbo. I know my main problem was the way elbow was welded on the turbo ( it was at the wrong angle and I didn't want to cut it off and have it welded again).

The valve caps are a ##### but the neon squirters are a breeze.

In all seriousness, I would never weld anything on to my turbo until I knew that it was going to work. More times than not it won't work and you just create more work for yourself.

Your right but I didn't have the luxury of test fitting it since the car was taken apart and the welding shop was about to close and it had to be done then or I was going to have to wait until Monday( I should have waited). Man I really caught hell with light up squirters. I can't beleive you thought those were easy. Now the blue dome light was a snap I just brought to the local mechanic and he did it an hour for only 20$.

contact GSXTCY , its on his car.. he can take pics for ya.

Well the install was a success. As Larry said there was some black box that was in the way of the lower ic pipe. That box was removed and the piping worked out great.

As for the licp meeting the elbow of the AGP 28, it was rewelded 130 degrees from its original position. If it was welded 180 degrees then it would not have worked. The only pics of this that I have right now are the ones without the licp on. I will take pics tomorrow and post them for your viewing pleasure.

If you have any other questions let me know. I am very happy with the VP kit and think that they made some changes for the better since their original product.

I give the VP kit :thumb: :thumb:

:dsm:

Weather has been $hitty so here is what I have from the night we did part of the install. These pics show what was done to my Big 28 for the LICP to work.
