This review will include FPBig28 and all supporting mods that have been recently installed in my car. The only mod that still needs to be installed is FMIC.

1998 GSX
Before the pars were installed the car had,
Extreme 2.5 Downpipe
hi-flow cat converter
Thermal research 3 inch cat-back
Extreme UICP with 1st gen BOV
K&N Air Intake Filter
AVC-R(first gen)
SPI Boost Guage

New Parts (Installed by TSS except for DejonTools Intake)
FPBig28(ported)
O2 Housing(ported by Taboo at TSS )
Exhaust Manifold(ported by Taboo at TSS )
Bosch 650cc/min ball-style fuel injectors
Walbro 255lph fuel pump(not high pressure)
Greddy EGT Guage and probe
S-AFC
Turbo Timer
Centerforce Dual-Friction Clutch
Dejontools Intake Pipe 2 inch
Crushed 1st gen BOV

First of all I would like to say that Taboo and his co-workers at TSS did a great job installing all the parts on the car. The whole installation experince was great, very informative and fun. Their prices are very reasonable. I learned a great deal just talking to those guys and I would like to thank them(Taboo, Mark, Madman) once again for the excellent work they have done. If you ever see my car, you will notice that I really take good care of it and I needed a shop that will pay the same care to my car as I did. TSS did just that. Car runs with no problems since the installation 2 months ago.

The installation started on Friday night and ended at Saturday night with lots of long pizza and car discussion breaks.

Once the installation was done I noticed the next morning(Sunday) that there was a small oil leak and they fixed that Leak on sunday night.

After I let the clutch break in for 500 miles(driving part throttle), I and Taboo took the car for a spin to set S-AFC at WOT with pocketlogger. We tuned the car to 860C with steady timing increase at the top of third gear. Boost is set at 17psi. This was a rough tuning to get me going and Toboo showed me the basics.

First Impressions, the car is a totally different beast.

Turbo: The power comes on fast and strong and the cars pulls hard to the readline whereas power with T-25 used to fall off quickly after 5500 rpm...
I get full spool by 3300rpm in Second gear, by 3200rpm in third gear, by 3100rpm in 4th and 5th gears. Third gear now feels like what 2nd gear used to feel with t25, and 2nd gear is just insane. Fourth and 5 gears are still much stronger than with T-25.

Also I would like to mention that there is absolutely no creep(I know some people had problems with creep and this turbo). I can set my boost controller to 12psi and the boost guage will read 12 psi to readline or I can set it 17 - 18 it will hold it to the readline with no problem.

Overall I feel like I have more bottom-mid-high power. I have done more tuning now that the temperature is in 30s, at 16.5 psi I am getting 18timing at the end of 3rd with EGTs around 820C. At higher EGTs my timing seems to fall so I opted for richer setting to get a little more timing and it seems to work. With my current settings in this 30 degree weather car is extremely fast. I pulled on a 2001 Mustang GT and 2002 Maxima SE easily from a 40 mph roll if that means anything.

Clutch: The Centerforce clutch is great. The clutch pedal feeling is just like stock or less. Clutch grabs hard with no signs of slipage. I only have 3000 or so miles on it but I like it a lot so far. I don't do a lot of drag racing so it suits my needs plus it is easier on the 2nd Gen 7bolt engine, less change of getting crankwalk.

Injectors and Pump: The idle is great, no roughness. These injectors seem to do the work. My S-AFC settings are -27 -27 -27 -26 -26 -25 -25 so it is big enough that I can decrease the airflow and get good timing, plus if I ever go to a track they will allow me to take out good amount of air flow with even higher boost settings. The pump whines a little bit but it is a very quiet whine , I don't mind it at all. No one that ever rode in my car noticed it.

Porting Work:: Taboo did a very through job on porting my O2 and Exhaust manifold to match my 7cm ported turbo. Overall the work and their prices for porting was very good.

EGT Guage: Egt Guage is looks great and feels like very well built. It reads a tiny bit slow compared to faster probes but I think it is good enough for my applications. Crusing on highway on 5th at 75 - 85 mph I read generally somewhere between 810C - 760C depending on load and weather.

Intake Pipe: After the installation(this part is installed by me) turbo got a lot lauder and I can really hear it spool now. It is great! I really like it. Turbo seems to spool a little bit quicker after the install but maybe by 50 - 100rpm or so so it may be my imagination.

That is it, thanks everybody for listening.

That's sweet. I wish I had something that where a place would install my turbo then tune the thing with me OMG Just awesome. Martin(taboo) is da man:thumb:

Great review! I agree with everything you have said about the Big28. It's a little monster LOL. I absolutely love mine. I have actually been running about 20 to 21 psi on mine even with the stock smic, but it's been extremely cool outside plus I've been running Sunoco 110 to give me a little more safety margin. This thing rocks at 21 psi! I'm also getting ready to purchase a big GReddy fmic in about a week from now, so I'm hoping that will help even more. Good luck!

the most I have seen is 18 psi, but with 92 octane and sidemount I cannot get good timing advance so I stick with 16 - 17 psi, and it runs good. I cannot wait to set it at 20+ psi with some race gas to see what the car can do.

the total was roughly around $3000 - $3300 range with labor... it may cost you little bit more or less depending on how much you pay for parts and labor...
