Is it welded shut where the wastegate hole meets the main passage down at the bottom? Or is the wastegate passage still open to the main passage?

The wastegate is vented to the atmosphere, it was meant to use an internal gate. But I am sure I could find a way to mount an external gate to it. As for the welding it ain't pretty but it works.

OK. What I meant was, you know how the original wasegate passage meets the main exhaust passage just before the bottom of the whole housing? Is that part welded shut? Because if it's not it will sound like an open exhaust all the time. If it is, good job!

Ooops, my fault. I wasn't sure what you meant, yes it's welded shut. I am going to try and post some install pics and sound clips if I can. Thank's for the comment's.

I used what I had, it is heavily ported as you can see. I was going to buy one from Victory Performance but figured I could save a bunch if I did it myself.

A friend and I are making my exhaust ourselves. I beleive it's going to go like this. An 80 degree bend coming off of the o2 housing-3 foot stainless steel 3 inch pipe going to a Borla Muffler which will have maybe a small bend to a tailpipe exiting right underneath the rear passengers side door. Flows great with the lack of bends and material and is inexpensive.

If im not mistaken, 1g 02 housings have better placement of the 02 sensor compared to the 2g, its a lot easier to make a dump tube out of a 1g housing. It look pretty good for homegrown, i wouldnt bash anything that works and was made cheaper than the cost to buy one.

What did you paint it with? im sure the paint will melt off anyways just curious.

Yeah, about as quality as the welds on your high speed O2 dump.

Thank's for the comment you hating #####. How can you say Borla dosen't make a quality exhaust? They have a million mile warranty, have you ever had a Borla? Or are you just making this basis because of something you read?

The paint is high temp, but I am sure it will come off. I was going to buy a victory performance o2 housing but didn't want to spend that kind of cash. The weld's aren't pretty but they work.

I've got a Borla, and it is very high quality for sure. I can't see anything about it that would classify as garbage in the least.

As well, Euro tuners have been putting them on high dollar exotics for decades.

304 aircraft grade stainless or better thruought the unit, great flow, quality sound, what more do ya want?? Unless your idea of nice is rice, then maybe your outta luck with Borla. You need a shiny piece of something then

I had Borla on my 84 VW Rabbit GTI & 88 VW Scirocco 16V. I had no problem's and they sounded great.

Well as for your o2 housing. How much did you pay? I must agree the welds arnt pretty but as long as they do work. I dunno but maybe the dump tube could be a bit longer? I dunno i dont think that i would want to dump really hot exhaust gas where you have yours positioned. maybe if you extend it a bit to dump closer to the bottom of the car. just a thought.

I made it, so I didn't pay for anything. I had an extra o2 housing and went to work. I have yet to install it, hopefully when I do, I will be able to post some pic's.

Hey guys, what exactly is the advantage of having an 02 dump tube as opposed to a regular o2 housing? Please explain as I'm ready to upgrade my o2 housing... Thanks!

Does the dump tube go straight to the atmosphere (ie. not back to the exhaust and throught the muffler)? If so isn't that loud, how do you get away without getting noise ordinance tickets?
