Hello, everyone! I am fairly new to this site, but am not new to the DSM community. I've been reading up on this site for quite some time and love the wealth of info here! Unbelievable! I know the t-28vs.? turbo has been beaten to death. I have a question about the potential of my car running the mods I have. I'm considering a larger turbo in the spring. Please help set me straight!

First off I do NOT have upgrade injectors or Fuel control. I DO have a 255 Walbro, FPT 28/28 ported, ported O2, 3" turbo back exhaust, TT Supra IC, Greddy Type-s, stock temp spark plugs, MBC set @ 16psi. Most of my other mods are listed @ my profile.

-estimate on current hp anyone?

-I realize I'm not getting 100% out of my current set up and am upgrading my injectors and am getting a SAFC or DSM link by JAN. My question is this, will upgrading my cams to HKS 264/272's and installing 1G Throttle Body give substansial top end gains? That setup will be around $600-700? right? Or would the $6-700 be better spent on a larger turbo(AGP L1R, ete 32, etc..)? ($500 selling t28+700=$1200 for newer turbo)

-If I were to maximize the T-28 w/ supra IC setup what kind of times & hp would I be looking @ w/ 18-19 psi?

I realize I'm asking a lot during this one post, but any info would be appreciated. Again, thankyou in advance for any help!

-MIKE

Thankyou, 98 Tsi! Will switching to 1 range lower plugs cause fowling? Having colder plugs- wil this reduce knock and cause an increase in timing? Wil it lower EGT's?

-One more thing I failed to mention on my post: I want a turbo that has excellent boost response. The fpt28/28 is very fun around town-instant boost, great pull! Where I crave more power is the topend. On the highway it simply doesn't feel that fast.

Thankyou!-MIKE

once you get some more boost you will pick up that top end power with the injectors and AFC ...you are not the only one here going for a great low 13's to 12 second ride :thumb:

This is the same setup I'm going ot use. Matter of fact my FPbig28 comes in monday, and I've already got my custom supra smic w/ bigger, aluminum endtanks. I'm hoping to go about mid 12's on race gas when its' all said and done, just mid to low 13's around town. Completely sleeper, which is another big plus.

The FP T-28/28 and FP Big28 are two different turbos. Either turbo will get an awd in to the 12's easily with proper tuning. The FP T-28/28 is good for about 320 hp, and the FP Big28 is good for about 350 to 360 hp.

- I've read on this site that the only difference between the FPT28/28 and FPT Big 28 is that the turbine wheel is clipped 15 degrees.

- Is this true or false?

- If it's false does anyone know the difference?

-I've heard the Big 28 has the Garrett GT series wheels. If anyone knows the truth, please enlighten us.

Thankyou-MIKE

Agps T28 is good up too 360 hp so i guess there all not the same huh ?
Someone need to get some turbo information before writeing in here.

I dont know who that response was aimed at, but a regular T28 or an Fp T28/28 isn't the same turbo as the FP Big28 or the T28 AGP sells which would be the reason the numbers are so different. The numbers SPEEDY quoted are probably pretty accurate.

I liked this though :)

I don't know if you were referring to me or not, but there's a difference between AGP's T-28 turbo compared to the older ORIGINAL version T-28/28 that RRE and FP use to sell. FP actually made the old ORIGINAL T-28/28 turbo and then they came out with the FP Big28. It has a BIGGER Garrett exhaust wheel, when compared to there old ORIGINAL T-28/28. I would say that both FP and AGP's version of there 28 series turbos are very close in comparison. Both of there sites claim 360 hp for there respected turbos. Do some research and you will see what I'm talking about.

ive done all the research i need i know that fp is so quiet in there turbos makes you think there hideing info for a reason. As for Agp they dont hid a thing and give you all the info on there site and more if you ask them. DSM Mikey go with Agps T28 and dont have worries in the back of your head and save a hunded or so !!

Your correct about the flow numbers, I don't know why they won't release any flow #'s either, but it's there choice. I guess there not to worried about it since 1/2 of the fastest DSM's that are out there are using a FP turbo of some sort. If you Don't believe me go to DSM.ORG and see for your self. Also... if you will go to FP's web site you will plainly see that they have the Big28 rated at 360 hp. Hmmm... doesn't AGP rate there's at 360 hp also? Something is starting to smell a little fishy!

I liked it also LOL!

you can get the IC for between $120 and $200 all you need to install is a few pipe adapters, a sawzall, and a few hose clamps... it's pretty easy... if you are at ALL mechanically inclined you can do it... there are a few FAQ sites on this install... I don't remember them off the top of my head...
