I have an HKS hi-power right now and i just saw on RRE about how it is so restrictive so i wanted to pick up another cat back after i get a new motor. Anyone running this exhaust on there car that might have a video clip or anything? This was probably dicussed many times but i havent found any clips of it. Honestly, i love the sound of these cars and the cops dont hassle us too much around here so it doesnt matter if its loud or not. Thanks, Jeff

Its nice and throaty actually. It is really really quiet at idle and at WOT it really growls. Ive never been told that my car sounds like crap/ricer. I never get looks from the local PD either. This exhaust has been my best purchase for my DSM yet.

+1. Thermal R&D sounds great at WOT, but my favorite thing about it is how mellow and quiet it is otherwise. Deceleration also sounds great, although on a daily driver I prefer the sound with the high-flow cat installed.

I also have a thermal catback, it sounds low at idle; but at WOT is where it soudns just awesome.

i have a Thermal Cat-Back on my 98 gsx and it sounds awesome, i also agree with the WOT, she really roars and at idle it's just one of the meanest 4 cylinder sounds i've heard..i put a 3" downpipe on and got rid of my cat and it only gets better..i definately reccomend the Thermal to anyone with a DSM..:thumb:

I will have to agree with everyone else here. I have heard alot of exhausts on 1g's and 2g's, and Thermal is by far the best sounding. I put mine on around 3 months ago and am very satisfied :)

I have a 2 1/2 - 3 inch downpipe and the Thermal R&D catback necks down for the cat. I plan on chopping off the 2.5 inch neck down piece and welding a 3" 2 bolt flange so its a full 3" exhaust.

I dont have time right now, in a week and 1/2 i can post a clip of my exhaust under load, idle and anything else you guys would like to hear.

I have the thermal on my 1G, I get lots of comments from people on how it sounds good.

It has a deap grown with some rasp in the top RPMs, really nice sound. Clean is how I would put it, great looking exhaust also!

that's what we did with mine, we cut the neck down and puta peice that was 3" to take it's spot with the 2 bolt flange..welds turned out really nice and it was definately worth the hassle for the sound...now if only there was a way around OBD?? haha...

:thumb: Sorry if you took offense, but the sound clip does no justice to how the catback sounds. I mearly suggested to use a different camra( Not buy one)

Thats all chill:cool:

I would post a vid but.....My car is waiting for its new motor, and its has HKS cams with 9:1 compression so its going to have a different sound compared to a stock motor car....:talon:

Found this clip the other day http://youtube.com/watch?v=Xd-p6t1X-P8 it does sound really good.

nice find:thumb: i checked out HopUpRacing and they're selling the Megan exhaust for 359 and the Espelir JGT500R for 527. i need to save the money right now, but Thermal is still one choice i'm leaving open for debate.

just for a reference:

+1 For the thermal! I have strait pipe on my 2.4 just haven't got around to switch to the Thermal off my GSX. Well actually I can't keep it running long enough!

I'll have to agree with the rest of the guys. The Thermal sounds amazing. I'll go ahead and say it's the best sounding exhaust I've ever heard on a 4 cylinder. I just sold my talon but I had a thermal with a 3" downpipe and a test pipe. At wot it sounds really good and I love letting off the gas to hear the back drag when rolling up to a light. Mine was auto. I've never heard it on a manual, but I bet down shifting must sound great.

thanks for the video

sounds sick! :thumb:
