I am planning to relocate my gas cap to behind the license plate for a "little show" clean look, it should be pretty simple once i figure this out. My problem, the gas cap and filler hose assembly has these 3 little "tubes" that also accompany the main filler tube, but i can't figure out what they are and what they're for, I've searched up and down but can't find any mention of these tubes. Would I need to relocate these as well or are they expendable? I already tried contacted the few people on this site who have done it but haven't had any luck yet. What's the worse that can happen if i just re-route the main tube using the factory cap assembly etc??? Would it cause my check engine to come on etc .. maybe if those tubes have something to do with keeping the line pressurized or something??? Any HELP would be greatly appreciated, those of you with the "why bother" comments, just take a deep breath and then say it out loud, it'll make you feel better..

I think those tubes you speak of are vents. By the way good luck that project looks like kind of a pita!

Especially with the license plate being pretty low, IIRC. Only reason it works on the Firebirds and whatnot is because the license plate is higher than the highest point of the gas tank.

Have you considered just going with a fuel cell, and popping your hatch to fill the tank?

^I'm with John on that one, I see problems having the plate that low.

How about putting it on the inside of the passenger door (on the inside of the rear 1/4 panel between where the door and the 1/4 panel meet, obviously not the door itself). That would keep it about the same level and would be fairly easy to do and you wouldn't have to deal with getting a fuel cell, just extend the filler line a bit.

If you need/want it on the rear, how about putting a hinge assembly on the rear center tail-light so it can pop out and reveal the filler tube.

Thanks for the info, I figured it out w/ the help of my body guy...as long as there is a steady downward stream it'll be fine, gravity is my friend, doesn't have to be an extreme downward path as the fuel tank is still below the rear license plate..and the others are just vents which i will extend also to be sure there are no problems...thanks for the help...

whos the guy who has their fuel door behind the right tail light.

Now THAT was awesome.
