Is there any way that a 93 Talon TSi FWD tranny would fit in my 91 Talon TSi AWD? I know that they are two different drivetrains but i just wanna know if it would work and if yes, how i would do it. The only reason i'm asking is because my tranny is in really bad shape and i don't have over $1,000 to get it rebuilt, but one of my co-workers has a spare tranny from her FWD that she'd sell to me for $200 and it was rebuilt about 2,000 miles before she bought a race tranny. Please don't give me anything like "why in the hell would you do that?" or anything, i just wanna know if i can do to save a little money.

I don't think you can man. You'd have to replace the whole rear end or pull the driveshaft from the TC to the rear diff. If you don't, by the time you go to drop in your awd trans, you will have messed up the TC real bad. Also, Because of how the trans and TC is set up on an AWD car, i don't even know if there's a way you WOULDN"T have to pull the TC too.

Just check out the classifides, or put up a want ad for a cheap AWD tranny.

You shoud be able to, the block is the same, so that part should be ok... Question is what would you do with with transfer case and rear diff... It will spin while you driving... Dont weld it or somethign

But will the FWD trans fit with the TC still on the car, thats the worry i'd have.

You can just take the TC and the Driveshaft off and just put the fwd tanny in. I only did this for 2 weeks so I dont know if it would be bad over a long time.

What damage could that cause to the rear diff though? I guess it depends on how long you plan to run the car fwd.

well the t.c. and driveshaft is what gives power to the rear wheels right? so couldn't i just take them off my current tranny, put the fwd in, then put my t.c. and driveshaft onto the fwd?
