I want to replace all/most of my vacuum lines. I went to slowboy, and found them, but they are asking me what size do I want them. I just want the normal size vacuum lines.

I was thinking the 1/8"(3mm) size would be good enough for the regular vacuum lines. Heres the link to the one I am talking about:

http://www.slowboyracing.com/more.php?id=4881&mods=1-6057,14-6116,59-6109

Would the 1/8" be the right size for most of the vacuum lines?? Oh yeah, how much feet do you think is neccassary for the job??

I use 4mm for most of the vacuum hoses, this seems to be about the best fit. 6 & 8mm also come in handy as well. As for how much you need: Taken from RRE:

For a 2nd gen, it will contain the following silicone hose, in the color of your choice.

2' of 8mm that will go between the coolant overflow and the radiator cap. It will also replace the breather hose that goes between the valve cover and the intake.
1' of 10mm for the coolant overflow that dumps to the ground
5' of 4mm for throttle body stuff and fuel pressure regulator
6' of 6mm for manual boost controller and for the blow off valve
If you wish to replace your boost gauge hose, be sure to order enough to go from where you have it tapped into the vacuum system to where your gauge is mounted. 6 feet *should* be enough, but your mileage will vary.

The kit doesn't come with clamps, But the silicone makes a nice tight seal. I havn't had one blow off yet, But just to be safe i'd pick up some small clear zip-ties. I'm going to just in case, just gotta find somewhere with ties small enough that they don't piss me off.

Luda, what clamps would fit the new silicone line? Because even the 6mm clamps wouldn't fit the new 4mm silicone line, so it has to be some weird size clamp.

Just ziptie them with a good ziptie. I have run 25 PSI and none have come off. The only one that somewhat came off didn't have a ziptie on it. Put one on and problem solved.

How much of a pain is it to get the zip ties off once they're "clamping" the vac line? Because i don't wanna eff up my line just to get off a zip-tie. (This is assuming you clipped the excess from the zip tie)

I did snip off the excess so they look nice. They are easy to cut off with a pair of dykes use common sense and be careful.

Or get colored ties that match your hoses. Or mix match red ties with blue hoses ect..... Check around and see what colors are in fashion this year. Make it look pretty. :thumb:

Me, I'm simple. Black hoses with black ties, all can be picked up at your local auto parts store.

You have to be careful where you get your vacuum hoses, some of them are more show then go. I know several guys have had problems blowing vacuum hoses off even with zip ties, expanding under pressure & collapsing under vacuum. This was from buying the cheep kits from their local autoparts store, Vibrant kits etc. I do know RRE and hightempsilicone have excellent quality hoses :thumb: .

Which is why i recommended RRE's kit. Thats what i bought knowing full well RRE wouldn't sell an inferior product (for the most part). The kit has been AWESOME for me even without clamps or zip ties so i can't imagine how it would act to high boost with zip ties. It'd be better than stock shit hose i can gaurentee that though.

I'm not talking about colored hose kits, but actuall replacement, good, thick, vacuum hose, that only come in black.

I'm not sure of sizes but I'll take the old hose in and get a replacement. I've used them for my PCV valve and the smaller sizes for all the boost lines. They hold up very well.

I made this mistake once. I ordered blue hoses because they go with the color scheme of my engine bay. I got them from either JCW or Summit but anyway my BOV line kept collapsing and one of my coolant lines got a hole in it and started leaking. So definitely get a good set. I ended up finding some thicker vacuum hose in black from the auto parts store but eventually I will buy either the rre or hightempsilicone.com kit.
