I have a 95 GSX with just an INJEN INTAKE. I couldnt afford a full catback exaust, so I just went out and bought a univeral muffler with a 5" tip on it. It looks great, but then yesterday, i got it installed at a muffler shop, and all they did was welded it on. My problem is, when i had a stock muffler on, my car can jump from 4000 rpm's to 7000rpm's just like that. NOW, that the new mufflers installed, it takes its time to go from 4000 to 7000 rpm's.. My car is still fast, but just not as fast. DOes anyone here know why????

it could be causing some kind of turbulance since it some what like a bottle neck at the end of your exhaust. but that's all that i would be able to think of. hope this helps

what is the internal size of the muffler.

Did you vent your BOV?

Did you re-connect all the lines to the new injen intake pipe?

You definately have some sort of flow restriction going on. Was is universal muffler or a universal turbo muffler?

It was just a universal muffler. I think i need a mbc to turn up the boost. or do you think i need a 3" downpipe??? thanks for the help guys.

A 3" dp will do nothing for you if you still have a restriction at the end of your exhaust. IMO any muffler that is not a straight through muffler is a waste of $$. I would suggest getting a 3" catback with a 3" straight through muffler for it. That should help you quite a bit.

Sounds like it maybe your new exhaust system...i think the universal muffler you've purchased isn't designed or doesn't have the flow capacity for a turbochared engine.

Are you running a stock mitsu BOV - make sure it vents back into the intake system.

yes i am running a stock bov. i'll check out to see if it vents back.
