Whats involved in removing the cruise control? I know you just unolt all the componets and remove them, but I heard that you have to get something from another eclipse that didn't come with cruise control. Is this true? Any tips that you guys can give me to remove my cruise control? TIA.

I have a 95 Tsi non-cruise and a 97 with cruise. I took a look at them. The Non-cruise cable goes directly to the TB. The Cruise cable mounts in a different location and looks a lot longer, The cable wraps around a bull wheel on part of the cruise module.

I went to the dealer today to get a non-cruise control cable, and as we were looking through all the pictures and finding the part number we found out that the cruise control cable and the non cruise control cable is the same. You just take the cable off of the pulley thing and attach it to the throttle body. I am going to try this today. I will let u guys know how it turns out.

After I went a checked to see if I could use my existing cable, it was clear that I could not use the cable. So I went to another mitsu dealer to see if maybe they could help me. We looked again, and we could come up with nothing. He then found out that no turbo 2G's came without cruise control. So I started to leave, but then I thought maybe a 1G cable will work. So it took us a while to find out the part # but they foound it. They didn't have it in stock. So I went to another dealer that showed they had one in stock. So when I get there, they can't find it. They could order the part, but I'm not sure if it will be the right one. If I order it and it's not the right one I can't return it.

So I have a couple of questions:

1. Does anybody here have a turbo 2G w/o cruise control.

2. if anybody has done this (on a 2G) where did you get the non-cruise control cable?

I have a part # MB539465 that is suppose to be the right cable.
I will be going to the junkyard tommorow and see if I can find any 1G's that don't have cruise control.

I went to the junk yard today and I found 1 92-94 eclipse 1.8L (1.8L are single cam right?). The cable looks the same as mine except it doesn't have curise control. So I took the cable. When I got home I started comparing them. The cable from the 92-94 1.8L wont bolt in. On the firewall where the cable bolts to is different. On our cars the bolts are positioned vertically. Kind of like this:

o
. x
... o

With x being the hole in the firewall where the cable runs through and o being the bolts.

The 92-94 1.8L being more horizontally positioned, kind of like this:

o x o

with the bolts being alittle off centered with x.

Maybe a 1G turbo cable will work. I don't know. Buschur does sell a 1G OEM non cruise control cable on his site. I don't know if it will work for 2G's though. I'll probably just e-mail him. I will be stoping by the eagle dealer before work today and see what they can do for me.

I did remove some of my cruise control system today. I removed that round thing that sits by the battery and the fuse box. You can take that cable off of those pullies by the throttle boby. This is mainly what I wanted to get rid of cause I need the space for my BOV.

Edit- I had to add the periods into the first drawing to show how the bolts are off centered.

I went to the Eagle dealer right now. They can get the part. It is about $66 though. I wish mitsu had the same type of parts computer. The one at eagle clearly said w/turbo w/o cruise control accelerator cable. The parts computer at mitsu did not have no parts decription for the part, It looks like the right one though. Tommorow I will go back to the eagle dealer and cross reference the part # MB539465, and see if it is the same one as the eagle dealer. Cause the one from Mitsu is only like $46. The one from Buschur is $45.

I don't understand why you're runnign around. Call up Conicelli and tell them you have a 19XX eclipse or talon whatever..and you want a non cruise control throttle cable...It's not that hard....You make #@%#@%#@%#@% too complicated

It's not really running around because I have all three of these mitsu dealers are less than 10min driving distance. Same goes for the junk yard. The Eagle dealer is a mile from my house. The main reason for going from dealer to dealer is because a couple of them think 2G turbo's all come with cruise control. So went to another dealer to see what they said, they said the same thing. I then told them to look up a 93 turbo and see if they don't have cruise control. We found the part number and another local dealer had one. I went to that dealer cause I wanted to see the part with my own eyes to make sure it's the right one. If I were to special order the part and its the wrong one they won't let me return it cause it's special order. The eagle dealer by my house can get me the part cause I saw in on the screen with a part description. I am going to get the part number so I can go order it through a Mitsu dealer.

I called the Eagle dealer and got the correct part# MB948632. At the Eagle dealer it's $67. Turbo Trix sells them for $60. The Mitsu dealer sells them for $42. I don't know how much Conicelli sells them for yet.

A 1G cable will NOT work on a 2g. You have to use the cable from a 2.4L Spyder if you want to remove the cruise on a 2g. Conicelli sells them for $32.

do this. onhook your cable from the throttle body. cut the little cylindrical thing off that goes into your throttle bracket. drill a hole through it. carefully measure the amount of cable to snip off (careful!!) feed your cable through the hole then fill it in with sauder. grind it smooth so it fits back into the hole on the throttle bracket and go. i did this on my 1g awd recently and it works fine. cable is a litttle long coming out of the firewall but it works perfect.
