I was just curious . . .

As opposed to tweaking the water lines (which I'm really not comfortable doing, because I know I'll just kink them), how bad would it be to just use longer hoses to connect them? I mean, as long as the hoses aren't touching anything that would melt them.

Has anyone tried this? I can't find anywhere that states exactly how much bending there is to the water lines and I think I'd feel much safer to just use a longer hose that naturally bends on its own.

Of course you can buy coolant hose to make it longer!

BTW: I don't remember having to bend lines that much to get things to match up.. in fact I almost don't remember bending any lines at all...

Yes, you will need to extend your line or you can purchase a 90 dollar billet line from I believe SBR and I'm sure other vendors carry this as well.

I had to bend mine slightly to make it fit properly, its VERY easy. Just look at where it needs to be bent and at what degree of an angle, put it in a vise, and bend it gently. If I remember correctly, they dont bend too easily, so as long as you dont go superman on them you shouldn't break or kink them.

Alright thanks for the input guys. It sounds like buying longer hoses would be the easiest, but I guess I will consider bending it. (Though it's not like longer hose is expensive)

Bending the lines is really easy & don't be that worried about kinking them. Place them in a vice, then insert a round shaft screwdriver into the line and make your bends bit by bit. You can actually bend the lines quite abit without them starting to kink.

I had to buy a different hose for one of the lines after I bent it to fit, I dont know about the rest of the EVOIII users. I bought a 90degree bend for the front coolant line. I have pictures if you need them.

it requires minimal bending. if ## worried about bending ## coolant lines. wait till u get to other installations on the car. gotta start somewhere. i was more worried about cutting out my stock oil line to the turbo. WTF

There are several techniques you can apply if you are really worried about kinking, ie... to achieve a 90 degree bend, you can make two 45 degree bends adjacent to each other and that will relieve the material half as much, and you will really only be bending a few degrees at a couple places.

Another way is to insert a thick-gauge wire into the line and bend it how you need it. Then just pull the wire out. The wire should keep the line in shape.
