I just got the oil cooler kit from Diamond Star Motorsport and had a question on how it can be mounted. Is there any reason it cant be mounted with the ports on the side?

It's cool to have it that way, just make sure that the return line (going back to the filter housing) is on the top.

is there a reason that the return line should be on top? wouldn't it make sense to put the return line on the bottom? being that the return oil is goin to be cooler...bring the hot oil in on top, and the cooler oil on the bottom, since heat rises...see what i mean?

if the cooler oil is goin out on the top, the heat from the hot oil on the bottom is gonna rise and kinda re-heat the 'cooled' oil on top...am i makin any sense?

just a theory, i could be wrong though

You put the feed at the bottom so that you don't trap air bubbles in it and make it less effective. By pumping from the bottom you guaranteee that there aren't any parts of the cooler not being used.
