What kind of BOV could I get that would be quiet and be just as effective? I'm looking for ways to increase performance without being overly loud. I don't want people to hear me coming, or know that I'm there until I pass them. Any tips on cat-back and manifolds and other things would be appreciated too.

Quit a few people are happy with their 1g bov, and they are about the quietest.

I am pretty sure any adjustments to your exhaust & CAT are going to make the car louder as well.

Yes 1G vented into the intake is the quiestest most cost-effective BOV.

Later,

I was looking into upgrading my BOV because I'm going to be tuning for about 22 psi. But I don't understand the responses here, if he is going 16+ psi, won't his stock 1g BOV leak?

Good goddamn. A thread from 02?

Why did you bump this?

Lol. I didn't even realize. :D

I'm just trying to be a responsible poster and search first. I recently did a BLT and noticed that my BOV was leaking at about 20 psi. So I thought of upgrading and wanted to know which one was least conspicuous.

Does reviving old threads cause administrative difficulty or something?

nope....just crush it

How do you crush, and drawbacks?

Not especially. however, it is counterproductive in the sense that all of this archival information is available with a 2 second site search. All rehashing does is repeat information that has already been answered a quadjillion times.

I'm not going to lock it, but do consider using the great resource at your fingertips to search for the pros, cons, and how-tos of crushing or Dodge Garage modding a 1g BOV. ;)

On the entirely sunny side, the fact that you type quite well when replying to thread will make them all the more searchable in the future!

OK, I will just research the crushed BOV thing outside of this thread. And thanks for the compliment, I post on some political forums where they'll blast you for unclear postings .... smarmy bastards! :thumb:

I've used a few BOV's & like everyone has said a 1g recirculated is about the quietest your going to get. Surprisingly, my current HKS SSQV, recirculated comes in 2nd (though this defently wouldn't be the case if these were all vented). Next would be the Greddy type RS & the loudest one I've ran was the Forge (all recirculated)

Forge? Really? Recirculated? I don't think mine is loud enough and am looking into GM MAFs soon. However, I heard Greddys and they're loud even when recirculated. I guess I should hear my car being driven by someone else.

For the exhaust, you could go with a nice o2 housing, and a 3in downpipe to an electronic cut out. So say you want to be in quite mode, cut out closed drive around using stock exhaust, you want to go loud cut out open and enjoy the power LOL.

well im really positive alot of people are not on the stock ic piping. but i too did not want something really loud. So i got a evo 8 bov which is a plastic one just like the 2g but actually holds psi up to 20psi!:thumb: and its as quiet as the stock 2g one, that goes into place exactly like the stocker. they also have the metal evo 9 ones that remind me alot of the 1g bov.

edit: and i got it for 10 bucks :)

To answer the original question: Recirculating the valve of course, remove the cone filter on the air intake and replace with the stock air filtration setup. Remember how loud your BOV got when you replaced the stock setup with a cone filter? This kills two birds also as your turbo will be a bit quieter, seemingly desirable given the original post. 6 years ago.

the tial isn't all that loud. its a nice crisp and fast relase. not ricey at all. At all.
I'm sure the new Tial 50mm Q (which is recirulated) is totally silent.

I've also seen/heard a lot of footage of the Synapse Synchronic BOV. It seems to be pretty quiet.
No whistle whatsoever. It can be recirculated, and claims to never leak at all. without a diaphram or adjustment.

Although I personally don't know anyone who runs them.
