Hey Fellas, I just installed the New SBR Cast Manifold (ported) on my EVO 16g and man this thing is a Monster! and a great piece of work by SBR. Well I took my car for a ride and its just not hauling like the way i thought it would be. I put back on my stock manifold and it runs so much better. For now I have no Fuel upgrade and running boost only 10-12 PSI boost. To my knowledge I think the SBR manifold is way to big for my setup, I'm I correct.

Any opinion is appreciated..

My Current setup

EVO 16G ( not ported )
New SBR Cast Manifold (ported)
2.5 Mach V O2 Housing
3"Down Pipe, and 3" Exhaust
Stock SMIC intercooler for now ( I Just ordered the FMIC )
255 Fuel Pump ( not installed yet)

No Fuel Control Yet

Goal is 300 - 400 HP on the EVO 16

Waaaaayyy too big! Better send it to me :thumb: ! I'll take care of it.

Seriously, if your goal is 300-400 then you definitely want to keep it. But you have a lot more mods to do before you can start utilizing it's strengths. Should have done match port before install but because you are going small to big should not be that much a detriment. Then you have intake and fuel to worry about. It's all about the flow and tuning. You'll need to get more air in there (2g hacked mas at least) with bigger injectors (650ish) better fuel (the 255 with an afpr) fuel adjustment (at least s-afc) and that's to start. I wonder if you had a leak with the SBR and didn't notice. Sorry could go over more but I gotta go to work.

Are you sure you didn't have any exhaust leaks after Installing the SBR manifold? Because going slower just doesn't make any sense...

thats what i was going to say...make sure your exhaust mani gasket is not leaking and do the same for your manifold to turbo gasket...also what size manifold to turbo gasket are you using?

A great way to tell if you have exhaust leaks is seafoam. Hopefully when you installed it you used all new gaskets, and cleaned off the area's where a seal needs to be made. Run some seafoam through a vacuum line, then let it sit for a couple mins, then start up your car and rev it just a little bit, if you dont see any smoke from the engine bay then you're good. Let us know what happens.

Thanks everyone for your reply , I do have new gasket for all my parts. I took off my J pipe and there was like half a circle left on the gasket. Dont know how that gasket blew. Can that cause loss of power that much? Well Im off work this weekend , Im gonna put everything back together, im gonna check and double check everything. Ill try the seafoam stuff too to make sure there is no leaks.

A boost leak is worse than a pre turbine exhaust leak.

Pre turbine exhaust leak = turbo spools slow or doesn't spool at all.

Boost leak = turbo spins as fast as it wants to, trying to pressurize the atmosphere essentially... MAS air meter counts air coming in, fuel is adjusted and sprayed into the cylinder based on set parameter, but because of the boost leak compressed air never makes it in the cylinder thus wasting fuel. Energy lost here is far greater than just an exhaust leak.

Get a new gasket in the J-Pipe ASAP and please report back!

i also have purchased the sbr cast manny and had it fully ported...i then run into a 14b ported to 7 cm ss gasket.. and soon evo 02 ported rre dp and apexi cat-back... working on opening intake up first then exhaust its a winter project just got in mail :thumb: :thumb: dejon powerhouse licp with bigger c.o.p. and ported turbo to match that ....modded smic...2 1/2" uicp with tial bov with #9 spring gm maf and translater and new throttle body elbow.... with nooooo leaks runs like a champ no dyno test yet though unfourtunatly want to finish the exhaust then dyno her up at sbr
