People ive done alot of research on both clutches....i like the idea of act's reputable company while alot of people used there clutches and seemed to work great. I also like the fact ACT clutches have alot of engineering put into it which means its tried and true. I was looking at the SBR today...and it claims to have less pedal pressure but more clamping force. Since i daily drive my DSM i thought that would be a great idea to have more clamping pressure then a 2600 but less pedal pressure as well. I dont know which clutch to go with....both are priced around the same (maybe within 10 bucks of each other)...any advice or experiences fill me in :thumb: :laser:

I've had a act2600 in both my 94 and 90.... i love that clutch more than any other ive ever driven...

one i had mated to a fidanza lightened flywheel the other i had mated to the stock resurfaced flywheel....

act makes great clutches, I don't know much about sbr clutchs... must be a new thing for them.

Very funny u said that...i just bought a fidanza flywheel for "a" clutch that im gonna be running....how did that 2600/fidanza work out for you?

Do some research on the Spec Stage 3 6 puck clutch. I have one and absolutely love it and I have installed about four in DSM's with no absolutely no complaints. My LS1 and 4.6 friends have even installed them in their cars wiht no complaints after driving my car and loving the great bite that the clutch has while still being able to be slippable.

SBR actually has their clutches made to spec by Competition Clutch Engineering, who have been in the business for quite a while.

You should really think about the effects of having less pedal pressure...to me, that would just increase reliability in the drivetrain, which, on these cars, is already very brittle. The 2600 also carries the tranny breaker reptutation. I have driven and launched on both (I am currently running a 2600 myself) and I plan on swapping my ACT for the SBR kit this summer. I'd do it sooner but I am cheap and want to get some use out of my ACT.

iv used act 2600 clutches on all 3 of my dsm, as well as both of my mechanics dsms, and never had any problems with any of them that would make me want to change to another company. iv also had expirance with a clutchmasters 2500lb in my buddys fwd tsi(actually 3 of them, 2 street disc 1 race disc), and he has since changed over to an act clutch.
from my personal expirance, an act clutch is not going to break your tranny any easier then any other high pressure clutch will, and i believe that the "tranny breaker" reputation comes from inexpiranced drivers who dont realize that if you abuse your drivetrain with an aftermarket clutch in a dsm, the tranny will give way before the clutch does 90% of the time. (meaning the burnt out their stock clutch driving stupid, put a 2600 in thinking its stronger then stock so next time it wolnt break, and the tranny breaks next time instead of the clutch) i have never harmed a tranny with an act 2600 even with the repeated heavy launches some of my cars have endured.

my current laser has a 2600 w/ solid hub race disc and fidanza flywheel. and although this solid hub set up feel very rough on the tranny and drivetrain in comparison to other street disc clutches iv owned, iv yet to have any problems with it. nothing has broken, tranny and axels all in good shape, and i drive the car almost daily(being thats its getting cold, and my laser has no heat, i drive another car at nite, any other time i take the laser)

unfortunatly i dont have any personal expirance with SBR clutches, or ones from the company who actually makes those clutches, so i cant comment on them, but the company who makes them is reputable and their product should be good quality.
