What are your preferences in thermal resistance, say around the exhaust manifold/ exhaust system? Heat shields, or Heat tape? Anyone had really good success with a certain type of heat tape?

Thanks

Everyone I know that has used some form of heat wrap has experienced cracked manifolds/headers. I have a homemade heatshield for my filter (aluminium) which I would recommend because its cheap and easily reversible. As for "heat tape" I'd say stay away from it (long story but the crap started a small fire in my old Z28).:( You could also look into heat treatments and coatings which I have heard less horror stories about. Goodluck
