i was wondering what you guys and girls thought bout jdm 6 bolts. ive heard many good things and only two bad things. and the bad things were someone telling me bout what others had happen to them. not even personal experience. i just bought a jdm 6 bolt and im bout to do the swap. just wondering what you all think of them.

I don't like how every singe engine is said to have 40 or 50 thousand miles on it. Every single one. Personally I would rather get one locally then have it shipped, though, that is because I am impatient when it comes to shipping. Another reason would be that you can't tell if it's been abused or not. Can't see what shape it's in beyond a picture that could be fake. If you already have it might as well use it though.

i understand that...but i saw the motor before i bought it. and it only has 30k on it but i know what you mean on that subject. but yeah i saw it before i bought it. it was at a local jdirect. and the guy i bought it from i didnt know before i got there but he is a friend of mine off a local forum.

to be honest, theres not much of a difference between jdm and usdsm motors. i think it's a selling pitch to get you to buy it.

I've had nothing but good experiences with them. I push my engines to the limit and the jdm engines have held up pretty well. I had to replace piston rings one time, but I was running 24 psi on a scm44 and a 100 shot of nitrous and had a slight detonation problem.

wow i would like to get a ride in that LOL. thanks for the input man. :thumb:

Just watchout for knock offs. There is a Hundai 2.0L engine out there that isnt half as nice as our DSM's. Just make sure your getting what you pay for.

I have a JDM 6bolt in my car. Great engine had no real problems with it other then it likes to seep oil somewhere I can't find. Running wise runs like I champ I pump 20 psi though a 50 trim to it and it takes it no probs. Mine originally came with the cyclone intake to boot (yes they are junk) and I just recently swapped it for the magnus one. If you can find a clean one they are great motors. When mine came and we pulled the valve cover off it looked like a new engine. The thing was 100% clean and shiney. :thumb:

ROFL ROFL
Imagine a Hyundai 2L with a 50trim on it and some nitrous or something ROFL and the person thinks its a DSM ROFL

there is a Hyundai motor that is ALMOST identical to ours . the valve cover fits and so does the head. the bottem end is not the same but the head is almost identical, i have seen it used as a 4g63 replacement for the head. cheaper and easier to find. all though it is only a certain model engine that can be used, not all 2.0 dohc.

mine came with the cyclone intake too....they are junk? what is wrong with them? i dont know anything bout them but im sure they are better than a us stock intake

the cyclone intake manifold has more than one butterfly and if properly setup will open individually at certain boost levels giving "a supposed" better bottom end and better top end than the regular stock manifold. some have reported getting this manifold to work properly without any jdm hardware that is need to operate and others say it is impossible without the jdm hardware to operate.

Back to the topic. There are many detailed Cyclone threads on this board.

I got a JDM 6 bolt longblock. You're right when you say you never know how bad the engine was abused...I'm not so sure about mine. It's not installed yet so I don't know how good it is, but the valve cover had some shitty paint on it and a BLITZ sticker so I'm wondering to what extent the last owner modified their car.
