I just installed my exaust system today. I have the apexi n-1 downpipe, and apexi n-1 catbacksystem(even though its not really catback anymore with no cat). Damn does it make a huge difference in performance. My stock boost gauge was hitting at about 10-11 psi. I know its not accurate but now it goes all the way to the top. I don't know exactly what boost i'm running now. Do you think it is to high to cause any engine damage? The rest of the car is stock. I have a k&n filter but i'm not sure how i wanna do the intake so its not in there yet. Also i'm gonna order my gauge and mbc on monday what is a good place and good brand to get. I'm gonna get the regular hallman mbc, i've heard the vdo gauge was pretty good. What do you think?

well my stock boost gauge always goes all the way up. if you're running under 14psi of boost then i think maybe there is something wrong w/ your engine/turbo or it could just be that the stock boost guage is absolute #@%#@%#@%#@%. :thumb:

edit

actually.. if anything i'd think you might be running a little more than 14psi. but maybe that's just me.

well since my friend put his full 3" buschar exhaust on he's been spiking at like 19psi. i dunno if it really has anything to do w/ exhaust for sure but that's why i said he might be runnin over stock.

If you still have the stock boost controller hooked up , you are only going to be making 10-12psi . No more than with the stock controller still connected... The factory gage is junk .. Get a mechanical boost not an electric ,Autometer always have good gauges and they are only $50. Put the new gauge on before you install the MBC and see what the boost is at it should be about 10 psi...

.. Get a mechanical boost not an electric ,

umm, i have an avc-r and it works fine, im curious why you would tell someone not to get an electronic boost contoller?

i also have the AVC-R, have you had problems tuning it properly, i put my car on a dyno with it, and it was tuned but i think it is allowing too much creep

I think he meant a mechanical boost guage.

In some cases the fuzzy logic the AVCR uses doesnt work well and will confuse the car thus making it hard to get a consistent reading. However with the single turboed DSM's there shouldnt be a problem. There also is nothing wrong with the mechanical boost controller if you get a good one. Many hard core racers use them you just cant use a cheapo. Greddy TVVC is a nice mechanical.
