Ive been looking for a crank angle sensor for my 92 tsi awd for a while to get it running again but havent had much luck locating one by chance anyone know a dsm site that may have one i ordered one from autozone and was sent a CAM angle sensor instead and immediately let them know how retarded they are but still ive got no sensor so anyone have one or know a dsm site that would have it thanks

Well you might havce to go back to Autozone and apologize. 1G don't have a crank pickup they use the CAS cam angle pickup.

I can get one for you. I work at NAPA. If you paypal me the money I can send you one ASAP. I'll even overnight it for ya;)

Better double check that...A crankshaft sensor is $609.00 bucks...

Again, as already stated, a 1g doesnt have a crank angle sensor. It only has a cam angle sensor. Some 1g 7bolts had provisions for one on the front cover, but what are you going to wire it to? The chassis has no wiring installed to use a crank angle sensor.

"Magnus Motor Sports revealed to the world their method of dealing with the crank angle sensor when installing a 6 Bolt 1G motor into a 2G. A 1G cam angle sensor, (CAS) can be used to provide BOTH the necessary cam and crank signals to the 2G ECU. Using this method eliminates the machining work that otherwise would be required to put a 2G oil pump and crank sensor on a 6 bolt block."

This was taken from VFAQ, read up and you will see.

I realize the don't have crank angle sensors for them. I can't get a Cam Angle Sensor. And I'm not sure what a Crankshaft Sensor is or why it's so freakin expensive. Looks pretty simple from the picture I got.

i realize which sensor is the cam angle sensor and it isnt possibly some people call it something else crankshaft sensor but i know for a fact its not the cam angle sensor i could be wrong but i know autozone sent me the wrong one

If you could get a picture of this it would make things 100000000000x easier for us all.

I called up a local shop and they happened to have one for 65 bucks so I ended up saving some money

Here you go. This is the pic of a 1g(91-92) cas (or cas/cps, if you want to calli it that). This is a 1g, 93-94 cas. I have a 91-92 spare if you need it, just pm me. Beyond that, there are no other parts on a 1g that resembles what you speak of.

alright well my friend is doing the work on the car since im nonstop at my job but i had ordered the crankshaft sensor and yes i did recieve exactly what appears as the cam angle sensor could this be my problem since im getting no spark yet EVERYTHING else has tested fine i previously had a 2nd gen so I jumped to the conclusion of it being the wrong sensor can someone steer me in the right direction and yes it does get fuel dfinetely I seem to have some mix up im sure one of you guys can help me with its the sensor that is below the lower portion of the timing belt cover on the driver hand side that pretty much needs the wheel removed to gain easy access to any help would be great!
