Would it be safe to run a Walbro 255 hp fuel pump with a stock FPR. If not, which FPR would you recommend?

this question is like venting: some people get away with it and some people dont. I am a follower of better safe than sorry i would get an Aeromotive AFPR check out ExtremePSI they got a nice deal on it :dsm:

Unless you plan on pushing more than 450whp go with a 190...

Oh and with a 190 you can get away by using the stock FPR.

If you plan on getting a bigger turbo in the future, get the 255. Check out www.slowboyracing.com They have the aeromotive and a new one from edelbrok (or however you spell it)

You could get the 255, and the aeromotive and get the fuel system done and over with, once and for all. If you get the 190, then decide to get a bigger turbo, now you gotta do your fuel system all over again. Just my .02 :thumb:

Your profile says you are running stock, IF you decide to get the MHI EVO III 16G turbo, which at 22-23 psi puts out max 350whp, even if you get 100shot of nitrous (with some engine mods), the 190 should suffice. Anyone disagree??

I ran a 255 with no FPR for a long time, but I also had a AFC, 2g mas, and 660's. A little tuning with a pocket logger and you should be set. I'm the type of person that likes to mod once and mod right. I'm not saying that the 190 is wrong, I just know the lifestyle of a DSM and there usual build-up, when too much is never enough.

I stopped by the local shop to buy the fuel pump and asked the same question. He said that I can get away with not running an FPR for the time being (14b). He said 2g's need the FPR more than 1g's cause of a more restrictive unit. Also he added that an FPR can give me more tuneability so the next few paychecks i'll be getting one...just to be on the safe side. :)

You could get the 190 pump and the BM FPR (since it only increases fuel pressure). This will be cheaper than the 255 and an Aeromotive FPR. What kind of turbo are you planning to get? Do you have any plans for upgrades? Do you even need a 255??

i am planning on going either 20g or FP Green. I'd rather get the 255 now than buy a 190 and then a 255 later down the road.

Oh yeah, you'll need a 255 for that! :thumb:

For what it is worth, I got the 255 hp with an evo b16g and 550s. I did not get away with it. I am with the majority, get the afpr. I am waiting for my Aeromotive as we speak (while carefully using my 450s - wife only less than 10 psi allowed).
