to start off i have a 91 eclipse gsx the outside of my crankshaft broke and i can not figure out how to get the pulley off i pulled the four outside bolts just checking if the pulley should come off right over the center bolt that goes into the crank or if that must be taken off to get the crank off..
if anyone has any good links to pics of this that would be great.. my buddy told me there is a big washer in there or something just to say i am lost

Loosen/remove your belts (good time to change 'em, by the way) and the remove the four bolts on the crank pulley. Viola! Done.

Oh, make sure you torque them properly when you put the bolts back on. The first time I reinstalled my crank pulley I think I read the values for the crank sprocket bolt and tried to torque the first one down to like 90 ft. lbs or something. Even though that seemed rather high I was in a rush and didn't double check it like I should have. So I began to torque hell out of those puppies. The actual value was more like 23 ft. lbs. or so which might explain why I stripped it. :coy:

I'm not sure I follow. I guess you mean to say that the 14 year old rubber on the harmonic damper (a.k.a. crank pulley) has finally rotted away completely and separated. Yes/no? :laser:

You dont need the center bolt out to pull the harmonic dampener....A little pulling and prying will break it loose :thumb:

Careful not to turn the crank CCW, hopefully you have not done that already trying to break loose the center bolt.

when i pulled out the four bolts i put a breaker bar in the center one so the crank would not turn but it turned about a quarter of a turn but that i dont think should mess up the timing unless the center one comes out.. and yes the rubber part was the part that went bad i know but the thing must just be caked on their from all these years from rust and just crap etc.. if u spray a little liquid wrench in there do u think it may help a little or do u not recommend that.. but thanks for the help everyone..
