Hey guys, I'm leaking oil from my return line where it bolts to the turbo. I didn't have gasket and tried to use gasket sealer......didn't work. My question is that my new hardware from machv includes both the upper and lower gaskets. Can I take the return line off completely W/O draining the oil?? Or is the bottom of the return too low?? The reason I ask is that I don't have any containment and wanted to change both at the same time!!

Thanks for the space :thumb:

I was able to do this. I jacked up the front pasenger side of the car really high. This helped all the oil go to the back drivers side of the pan. When I took off the oil return I had a small pan ready in case ther was some left at that level but nothing came out. Good luck.

No the return flange on the oil pan isn't too low. You do however want to pick up those tiny aluminum crush washer for the bolts so oil wouldn't leak out through the bolt threads especially on the oil pan side.

Personally I would just go to autozone and buy a 5 dollar oil contaiment pan. Plus you are gong to have to clean up that area good when you put the new seal on. So now you risk gettins dirt into the pan when you scrape off what sealent you put on there.

Plus if it is that bad, with a fresh new conatinment pan, you can reuse the oil but I wouldn't suggest it.

Very good point. But since I just changed the oil, Royal Purple Synthetic, I would much rather keep my oil and reuse it rather than have to fork over another 50 bucks. I've only put 500 miles on my new oil, plus the quart I added today when I foun out I was leaking

I'll try and jack the car up and see if it will work that way, worst case senario I go buy a 5 dollar bucket and reuse my oil. Thanks for the help guys!!!! :thumb:
