anyone got pics of their wb o2 sensor install? it's time to do mine this weekend and on preliminary inspection, it looks like before the cat would be a good place.

I've been wondernig myself where a good place to install the WB is.

Weld another bung on your downpipe about 15 or so inches from the turbo outlet. Most widebands today use the VW sensor (Innovate Motorsports, AEM, Zietronics etc etc) which can not be put right behind the turbo as it's too hot.

Wideband sensors work best at a cooler temp believe it or not, so it must be about 15" behind the turbo or so (24" from the head) to work properly.

Have an exhaust shop weld in an extra bung and get a plug so you can pull it up and plug the hole eventually as well.

thanks, looking at my car i didn't think i could fit the wb up front like that. i thought i would have to mount it before the cat.

Hi,

Innovative motorsport recommends to have theirs put as far as possible away from the turbo. And if you have a cat, it needs to be still in front of the cat. I read that a lot off people are installing the sensor in the place where the 2nd O2 sensor is located. I am not sure if 1g has one, but that's what I know about wide bands and 2g.
I hope this might help.

:thumb: While Reading IN the owners manual for the AEM Gauge type WB, It states that it should be Roughly 36 Inches from turbo/head. I placed mine behind the Flex section before the test pipe... You should also mount with a degree of angle to prevent water damage Hope this helps.... :thumb:

Since I dont have a cat i just put it in the second o2 spot...on a 1g you have to weld in the bung like DSMjim said...but the 2nd o2 spot works best on 2gs.
